[size=100%]KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 27, 2015: Netizens around the globe reacted in surprise, shock and panic on Twitter after Facebook and Instagram went offline at 2.25pm. Services were only restored at 3.10pm, about 45 minutes later. The cyber strike hacking group, known as the Lizard Squad, has apparently claimed responsibility, according to US reports. Internet users around the world complained of not being able to access their accounts on the social networking site. Naturally, they took to Twitter to vent. David Ramos tweeted: “So facebook isn’t working.” RB ‏tweeted: “What happen to facebook????” Carl Elphick tweeted: ‏”oh noes! facebook is down.”
Mogo ‏said, “Facebook is down and I had too much caffeine so I have nothing to do but I’m wide awake help.” Lea Wykes said: “With Facebook and Instagram both down. I have no work to do. Shopping it is.” An Instagram statement on Twitter said: “We’re aware of an outage affecting Instagram and are working on a fix. “Thank you for your patience.” Instant messaging service WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, is working as normal.
