Hanya di Singapore: Nak apply kerja mesti makan babi?

Singapore Chinese Muslim Heidi Heng was shocked when she was asked the question when she tried to find out more about an opening for an administration position.

At first, she said, she was mistaken for being a non-Chinese because she was seen wearing a headscarf. Then, she was told that her Halal diet would be an inconvenience to other employees especially when it comes to company events.

Heng was responding to job application queries sent via Whatsapp messages on her phone when she was confronted by questions that involved her race, religion and dietary option. She was corresponding with someone who appeared to be the human resource staff of an unnamed company.

In my office, there is one computer terminal which is shared with all the general staff. There was one incident where my Chinese colleague eating his Char Siew Pau with his left hand, while using his right hand to move the mouse. It happened a Muslim staff walked past him and made a fuss out of it by scolding my Chinese colleague for not washing his pork-stained left hand after finished eating his Char Siew Pau, and touched the keyboard straightaway.... To cut the story short, both created a noisy commotion inside the office where both of them accusing each other of racism lah blah blah blah.... and religious insensitivities. Finally, both were called into HR department to have a close-door lecture by my HR manager. In the end the matter was closed but not in an amicable manner for both parties. Both claimed they were in the right.

I went to an Indian vegetarian restaurant with my Muslim friend in Serangoon Road. We had Thosai. In this Indian restaurant had an Hindu altar tucked quietly at the corner of the eating area.No issue with my Muslim friend eating here. Next week I invited him to Aljunied for another vegetarian makan. He would not go in at all. He claims it is wrong to eat here. It was a Buddhist restaurant. The Buddhist here does not eat any meat or even fish, yet alone eggs and cooks their food in pure peanut/vegetarian oil. There was a small Buddhist altar in the restaurant. And that was wrong but what about the Hindu restaurant? The Buddhist are strictly vegetarian here. They will touch any animal blood. I find this all so strange...

Malaysian Muslims are imposing their religious practice on the non-Muslims like the dress code and the restriction on the consumption of food in their presence during the fasting month.
They can always walk away and not be tempted or are they telling the world they are weak-minded people who are easily tempted.
They are always telling others to be sensitive to their religion but they are so crass when they describe others especially when it comes to religion.
They think they are holy but look at the number of unwanted mothers, drug addicts, corrupt officials and other unsavoury deeds committed by them.
Need I say more?

kalau boleh menyesuaikan diri memang boleh happy.

yang tak happy to kalau hidup sebagai minority dan meratap hiba tak dapat hidup dengan cara berbeza dari orang lain...

pilihan ditangan masing2lah....

Company ni nak hire chinese non muslim sajok. Kira oklah dia gitau siap2 ada few events keluar makan pork. Kang dah kerja baru dapat tau, lagi naya. Carik kerja lain jela dik.

yang ini banyak melambak kat Malaysia

ummah melayu amat phobia dengan resto cina walau pun vege sebab takutkan babi

tapi resto hindu dorang OK

tahniah untuk majikan macam tu. telus dan sincere. betul ler tu kompeni tu buat event dengan geng cina mesti makan babi. depa bagitau benda yang betul dan tak mahu orang islam terperangkap atau terpaksa makan babi.

aku tengok ayat dia pun sopan saja cakap terus terang.

apa kata kita tukar skrip that HR person is a melayu dan budak yang apply tu melayu hindu tak makan lembu agak2 apa jadi...

"maaflah saya tak tahu awak bukan melayu"

   "saya melayulah"

"tapi gambar awak ada tanda tu atas dahi"

   "saya melayu hindu"

"tapi awak tak makan lembu kan?"

   "kenapa, kerja kena makan ka?"

"bukan macam tu. company kita selalu attend khenduri makan kari lembu, takut susah lak nanti..."
