King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima visited the temple complex of Prambanan. It is the largest Hindu Javanese temple complex in Indonesia, and its name means ‘many priests’. Afterwards, the King and Queen were given a tour of the temple complex, and attended part of a traditional Ramayana performance and a concert by the modern music group Rubah di Selatan.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima visited Sumatra.In Sumatra, The King and Queen first travelled to Lake Toba for a visit focusing on ecotourism and water quality.
There, they visited a traditional Batak village where they received information about the history of the region and future developments. The King and Queen then visited the Del Institute of Technology to learn about the development of sustainable tourism.
Afterwards, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima travelled by boat to Samosir Island in the middle of the lake, and there, they visited Silima Lombu ecovillage, built to show the local community the potential of sustainable tourism and small-scale organic farming.
As a result of Covid-19, King Willem-Alexander of The Netherlands and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands are working from home at palace Huis ten Bosch in The Hague. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima take part in digital working meetings, to get information from the healthcare institutions, organizations, companies and persons regarding the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19).
