KUALA LUMPUR: Seorang kerani dihukum penjara enam bulan oleh Mahkamah Tinggi di sini kerana melindungi suaminya yang diketahuinya seorang pengganas Negara Islam.
Hakim Mahkamah Tinggi Kamardin Hashim menjatuhkan hukuman itu terhadap Poziah Harun, 42, selepas mengaku bersalah terhadap pertuduhan itu pada Selasa.-mstar
KUALA LUMPUR: A chief clerk was jailed six months by the High Court here with harbouring her husband who is a known Islamic State terrorist.
High Court judge Justice Kamardin Hashim meted out the sentence against Poziah Harun, 42, (pic) after she pleaded guilty to the charge on Tuesday.
Justice Kamardin said that the court viewed the case seriously and took into consideration public interest as it involved national security.
He said not knowing the law was not the reason to commit crime.
“Although you are protecting your husband, it is a serious offence.
“IS is not only in the Middle East but also in our country. It can cause destruction and we do not want this to happen here.
“The court views that six months’ imprisonment is proper and appropriate,” he said.
He instructed the sentence against Poziah to run from Aug 19, this year, the day she was detained.
She was charged on Sept 16 in the Sungai Petani magistrate’s court for harbouring Zulqarnain Ghaz Abd Ghani, whom she knew had committed terrorist acts.
