Makan Batu Untuk Meluahkan Perasaan Terpendam

Pelbagai cara dilakukan dalam meluahkan rasa tekanan, marah, sedih dan gembira. Berbeza pula bagi Teresa Widener, 45, yang berasal dari Bedford, Virginia, Amerika Syarikat apabila dia memilih untuk meluahkan rasa yang terpendam dengan memakan batu.


Menurutnya, semakin dia berasa gelisah, semakin banyak batu akan dimakannya. Dia boleh memakan batu sebanyak 1.3 kilogram (kg) dalam seminggu atau lebih daripada 1,360kg sepanjang hidupnya.

"Saya mula memakan batu sejak 20 tahun lalu jika berdepan situasi sedih atau melalui hari yang buruk dengan mengambil segenggam kerikil dan batu-batu yang disimpan di dalam sebuah almari khusus.

"Biasanya saya akan mengutip batu yang lebih lembut dan rapuh ketika berjalan-jalan kerana bukan semua batu boleh dimakan. Untuk menikmati kesedapan batu itu, saya terlebih dulu akan memecahkannya menggunakan tukul besi," terangnya.

Teresa kemudian akan memakan batu-batu itu secara perlahan-lahan dengan gigi di sebelah kiri kerana menurutnya, gigi di bahagian itu lebih kuat berbanding gigi lain. Dia juga mengaku tidak pernah berdepan masalah kesihatan yang serius akibat tabiat pemakanannya itu. Hanya sekali-sekala dia sakit perut tetapi jarang membuang air besar.

"Makan batu membuatkan saya berasa tenang. Kuantiti yang diambil pula bergantung pada perasaan saya ketika itu. Untuk itu, saya rasa lebih baik jika ada batu di rumah.

"Saya suka kerana ia juga memiliki bau tanah. Kadangkala saya tidak membasuh batu-batu yang dikutip di tepi jalan kerana mahukan aroma tanah yang terbit daripada batu itu," ujar Teresa kepada akhbar Dailymail.

Jelas Teresa, amalan memakan batu membantunya merawat kekurangan zat besi yang disebabkan penyakit anemia yang dihidapnya.
