It's fisticuffs between Madonna and Warner Music!

The battleground is set and a war has been declared. But then it has a musical twist to it. Pop diva Madonna is at loggerheads with music giant Warner Music after it sued her over the value of her label Maverick Records, which is owned jointly with Warner Music.
According to the New York Post, the Group lead partner Edgar Bronfman Jr. tried to sugarcoat the bare-knuckle tactic by having his spokesman declare "the company's deep respect for Madonna."
But Madonna's manager, Caresse Henry said,"The efforts by the Warner Music Group to publicly praise Madonna while privately suing her company are shameless". "If this is the way the new regime treats artists, it's a sad, sad day in the history of Warner Music."
In a counter-attack, Madonna hit back with her own lawsuit, which claims that Maverick generated 100 million dollars in profits for Warner since it was founded in 1992 with artists such as Alanis Morrisette and Michelle Branch.
The fraud suit alleges that Warner Music CEO Roger Ames "engaged in a pattern of false promises and misrepresentations of fact" aimed at pitting Madonna against Maverick CEO Guy Oseary.
According to an industry insider, "If the new regime is treating Madonna this way, then all other artists and managers need to read the sign on Edgar's door very, very clearly: beware". "His 'music people' have become pawns to his accountants." (ANI) |

Singer 'strips' over censorship
Singer Alanis Morissette wore a "nude suit" on stage at Canada's equivalent of the Grammys to complain about censorship in the US.
Morissette, who was hosting the Juno Awards in Edmonton on Sunday, wore the cartoon-style bodysuit in protest at TV and radio censorship in the US.
"We can't show nipples on national TV," she said in relation to Janet Jackson's Super Bowl incident.
"I am proud to be able to stand here and do this," she told the audience.
"We live in a land where we still think the human body is beautiful and we're not afraid of the female breast," the singer said, after stepping out of a dressing gown to reveal her "nudity".
'They're scared'
Morissette then criticised a radio station in the US for forcing her to change strong language in one of her recent songs.
"They're in an era when they're scared, when there's lots of fear," she said.
The Juno awards were this year dominated by Montreal's Sam Roberts, who picked up three awards.
Pop singer Nelly Furtado won best single for What You Want, while singer Sarah McLachlan won best songwriter. Rock band Nickelback took best group.
Morissette, who became an overnight sensation for her 1995 album Jagged Little Pill, releases a new album in May.
