Authorities ask him to lodge his complaints against the whistleblower website's editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown, to the Malaysian High Commission instead.
PETALING JAYA: London police turned away Pertubuhan Minda dan Sosial Prihatin Malaysia adviser Ramesh Rao when he attempted to lodge a complaint against Sarawak Report (SR) editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown.
Rao was asked to go through the Malaysian High Commission instead, reported Malaysiakini today.
According to the report, Rao had attempted to lodge a police report against Rewcastle-Brown at the West End Central police station, before being turned down.
“I have been advised by British police to hand the documents through the Malaysian High Commissioner to avoid any loss of the documents and evidence,” he reportedly said in a statement.
According to Rao, the documents sent to the High Commission included a statutory declaration from Lester Melanyi claiming that he was hired by Rewcastle-Brown to edit SR content, purported emails between Rewcastle-Brown and Lester, as well as a letter from PetroSaudi International claiming that all emails published by SR were false.
Rao added that the documents would also be sent to the British Attorney-General and the Home Ministry.
Apart from police reports in Malaysia on the same issue, Rao had also submitted a memorandum to the British High Commissioner in Malaysia, asking them to tell Rewcastle-Brown to keep out of Malaysian politics.
