 You hit the return key hoping for something exciting to come up – a fan club perhaps, or a glowing review of your work. But when this rogue from Palo Alto, California, searched his own name – Christopher Viatafa – the results showed he was one of the state’s most wanted men. The 27-year-old promptly decided to hand himself in to the local San Leandro police station, where he was wanted on suspicion of shooting a firearm towards an inhabited building.  Viatafa told officers that he had seen his mugshot on the ‘Northern California Most Wanted’ ‘Northern California Most Wanted’ website and decided to clear his conscience. His listing has now been updated to read ‘captured fugitive’. The website was launched in December as a joint operation between the state, federal and local police services. It lists criminals from across the San Francisco Bay area. ‘The site has been a valuable tool for both law enforcement and the public in finding criminals,’ explained Mike Sena, the director of Northern California Regional Intelligence Centre.
