The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 are currently in the pipeline from Disney, it has been confirmed today - although both projects could be a long way off. Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed today via a conference call to shareholders that the sequels are in the works, confirming rumours dating back to last October when whispers of a potential new Cars film started doing the rounds. The news comes one day after plans were announced for The Incredibles' first outing to return to cinemas in 3D form later this year. It's not yet known for certain if Pixar will be involved - however, as they previously said that they will be focussing on original projects and sequels on alternating years and it is already known that Finding Dory is slated for a 2016 release, fans could have to wait until 2018 or even 2020 for new Cars or Incredibles features. In the meantime, they release both Inside Out and The Good Dinosaur in 2015; and have confirmed that films will be released in June 2017, November 2017 and June 2018 - although their identities are still under wraps. Perhaps they could be either of these sequels, after all. The Incredibles garnered critical acclaim upon its release in 2004, becoming the fifth highest-grossing Pixar film to date (out of fourteen), taking in $631,442,100 worldwide. The decidedly less well-received Cars 2, released in 2011, took $559,852,400; trumping the $461,983,149 made by its predecessor. Via: Entertainmentwise
