 One of these dogs is thought to have become the most expensive in the world after selling for ￡1.16million. The Tibetan mastiff puppy – yes, apparently that giant bundle of fur is somehow still a puppy – on the left sold at a luxury pet auction in eastern China to a 56-year-old property developer for 12million yuan. The dogs, with distinctive leonine features, have become a status symbol of the country’s super-rich and are said to be lucky animals bringing health and security.  A dog breeder told the Qianjiang Evening News of the puppies that sold at auction: ‘They have lion’s blood and are top-of-the-range mastiff studs.’ In 2011 a Tibetan mastiff called Big Splash sold for 10million yuan (￡970,000) to a coal baron, then thought to represent the most expensive dog sale ever. -Metro.
