Ed Sheeran has swiftly shut down speculation that a track on his new album was written about best friend Taylor Swift, insisting that they 100% have not dated despite previous rumours. The 23-year-old, who premiered his new single 'Sing' this week, recently revealed that he has used a past break-up to inspire one of the songs on his upcoming album 'x' and it wasn't long before speculation was rife that the mystery ex was actually his BFF Taylor. According to Ed though, the 'I Knew You Were Trouble' star isn't muse for the track: “With lyrics like 'Me and her, we make money the same way/Four cities, two planes the same day',” he told Rolling Stones magazine. “It's 100 percent not about Taylor,” he insisted. Taylor, 23, has made a career out of dissing her former boyfriends on her songs – notably John Mayer and Jake Gyllenhaal – and Ed says he's fully aware of the consequences of splitting up with the country singer. “Taylor's one of these people that if you piss her off and she writes a song about you, it's not good news for you,” Ed explained. “I've never dated Taylor. I've dated a few singers, though.” Do tell, Ed! The 'I See Fire' star went on to reveal Taylor's reaction to hearing his brand new break-up song and it sounds as though it could be some of his best work yet. “She was just like, 'Whatever happens, ever, between us as friends, I never want to piss you off that much,'” he revealed. The British singer has also had the chance to listen to some of Taylor's new music following on from the international success of her fourth album 'Red,' and Ed says fans are in for a treat. “It's really f*****g good. She's stepped up her game,” he teased. Ed's new track 'Sing' premiered this week and will feature on a special EP set for exclusive release in the UK soon while his second album 'x' is due for release on June 23.
