Johnny Depp's new movie Transcendence is struggling at the US box office on its opening weekend, according to latest estimates. The sci-fi has, according to Deadline, bowed at a disappointing No4 in the rankings, on course to total between $12m and $12.4m for the three-day period. Conversely, Heaven Is For Real - a faith-based movie fronted by Greg Kinnear - is surpassing all expectations, and looks on track to chart at No3 and top $26m for the five-day period since its midweek release, and $19.6m for the 3-day weekend. It's the highest new release of the week, and - despite not being at No1 - it does have the highest per-screen average, which is looking at around $8,000. The top two positions are occupied by the same movies as last week; with Captain America: The Winter Solider securing a third week in pole position. Rio 2 follows in second. Transcendence is out in the UK on April 25, while Heaven Is For Real - which also stars Kelly Reilly and Thomas Haden Church - follows on May 9. On our shores, the big new release this weekend is The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Entertainmentwise
