Kecoh-sekecohnya! Hari ini apabila pertandingan akhir ratu cantik Miss Universe 2015, berlangsung dengan kejutan dan juga kontroversi.

Bayangkan, hos program itu tersalah sebut nama pemenang dan menyebabkan Ratu Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez memegang takhta Miss Universe hanya dalam masa 4 minit!

Kemudian, hos Steve Harvey membuat pengumuman dan mendedahkan kesalahannya dalam menyebut nama pemenang sebenar! Ratu Cantik Colombia itu sebenarnya hanyalah berada di tangga kedua, sekaligus terpaksa menyerahkan mahkota kemenangannya kepada Ratu Cantik Filipina, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Steve Harvey Messes Up & Announces Wrong Winner at Miss Universe Pageant

Miss Universe 2015 host Steve Harvey just made the biggest mistake in pageant history as he announced the wrong winner’s name. Poor Miss Colombia put on the crown, walked to the end of the stage and everything, but she was not the winner. Miss Philippines actually won.

Harvey announced Miss Colombia, who needed a translator throughout the event, as the winner of tonight’s pageant while Miss Philippines was revealed to be the first runner-up. Miss Philippines then joined Miss USA, who came in third, on the side of the stage. Miss Colombia cried and was crowned the winner by the reigning Miss Universe Paulina Vega.

About a minute after Miss Colombia was announced as the winner, Steve Harvey approached the front of the stage and said he had to make an announcement. He then revealed he had made a mistake and that Miss Philippines was actually the winner. The camera moved to Miss Philippines and Miss USA, showing the horror and upset on their faces in reaction to the blunder.

Poor Miss Colombia had to give back her crown and there’s a Twitter photo of it below.

While I don’t think this mistake has been made before, there is something to be said about the proper conveyance of information. Information is meant to unambiguously communicate. This reminds me of the issues the US has experience with ballot design where voters cast wrong votes. The card having the positions should have been nothing but a simple list 1, 2, 3 of the final placement. How he announced that in reverse order would have been up to him the MC. The card should not have been in such fine print and it should have been so crystal clear that such a mistake couldn’t have been made. A large part of the blame is in the card that was passed to Harvey.
