LOS ANGELES, Feb 20 — Meet the muscular and cheeky space pilot Pete Quill in the first full trailer for “Guardians of the Galaxy”, named after a gang made up of, as Quill’s rival puts it, “a bunch of a-holes”. Who are these misfits, then? Flanking the ruffian outlaw are four co-conspirators: lethal assassin Gamora (Zoe Saldana), vengeful muscle man Drax (Dave Bautista), escape artist Rocket the raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and his associate, towering tree-person Groot (Vin Diesel). The quintet get themselves in a spot of bother when Quill, played by Chris Pratt, attempts to swipe a powerful orb from under the nose of gravelly-voiced cyborg Korath (Djimon Hounsou). And upon his capture, Quill’s attitude doesn’t exactly endear him to intergalactic law enforcement, the Nova Corps, which is also in pursuit of the orb. Also featuring are Lee Pace of “Breaking Dawn” and “The Hobbit” as Admiral Ronan, John C. Reilly (“Wreck-It Ralph”) as officer Rhomann Dey, a bald Karen Gillan (“Doctor Who”) as Ronan’s deadly collaborator, Nebula, and Benico del Toro as the extravagantly costumed Collector. Supervillain Thanos, played by Damon Poitier in a post-credits sequence for “The Avengers”, has also been confirmed to appear. “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be Marvel’s second movie out this year, due August 1, after “Captain America: Winter Soldier” arrives from late March onwards. — AFP-Relaxnews
