The Avengers sequel has started filming in Johannesburg. Shooting for Avengers: Age of Ultron has kicked off with a two-week shoot in the South African city with further filming to take place in northern Italy and South Korea. Paul Bettany recently joined the cast of the Marvel blockbuster as Vision while other new additions to the cast include James Spader as Ultron, Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver and Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch. Director Joss Whedon recently revealed that he has been taking inspiration from Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather II for the new film. He told AlloCine: ‘A ton has happened in-between and it’s a very different movie [from Part I], but you don’t need any information. It’s there in the film about what’s happened since, what’s different, and why is this a different film; why is it a different kind of structure, and why it is darker. ‘It’s all there, you’re in the vernacular of the first movie and you’re just ready to pick up in this new place, and hopefully that’s what will happen with my movie.’ He added: ‘Obviously I’m talking about one of the greatest films ever made (The Godfather: Part II)…I hope mine will be good, but that is my guiding star.’ Avengers: Age of Ultron is out on May 1, 2015.
