Johnny Depp has closed a deal to play convicted murderer Whitey Bulger in crime drama Black Mass, according to new reports. Depp has allegedly been in talks regarding the role for the past year and Deadline have now said that the actor has officially signed up for the part in the upcoming movie. The site also go on to claim that Tom Hardy is also in "early talks" for the part of John Connolly, the FBI agent and childhood friend of Bulger, who helped him with his disappearance. The flick will focus on Bulger, who rose to the top of the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List after he went on the run for a decade. He was then caught in California in 2011 and is serving time in Massachusetts state prison for second-degree murder. Black Mass is a true story and is set to be produced by Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, alongside John Lesher and Christi Dembrowski. Scott Cooper is also on board to direct. Production is scheduled for May 2014, according to the reports. Meanwhile, it seems like Depp is going to be very busy in the near future if the recent reports claiming that he's preparing to wed Amber Heard on the actor's private island in the Bahamas are true. According to sources, the Hollywood star is planning to invite some of his musical friends, who will perform at the party on the beach, with guests allegedly attending the ceremony barefoot. “They’re having a small intimate ceremony barefoot on the beach in Little Hall’s Pond Cay,” the insider told The Daily Star. “Afterwards they’ll have a barbecue where some of Johnny’s musician pals are going to perform, followed by limbo dancing. Neither Johnny nor Amber want a big, glitzy Hollywood bash. They are both very private.” Source
