The five-year-old went on her computer and bid £3,500 on eBay for the white truck. She was horrified to discover he had won the online auction – but managed to persuade eBay to scrap the deal. Despite missing out, William still dreams of being a recycling plant manager when he grows up. He has a huge collection of toy wheelie-bins, high-vis jackets, miniature lorries and packaging. And he eagerly watches the binmen in action at his home in Great Paxton, Cambridgeshire. Mum Fleur, 45, said: “He’s -obsessed with rubbish and bin lorries. He asks people when their binmen come and if they are recycling their rubbish. “We went on holiday and he opened a stranger’s bin and checked it, saying, ‘You’ve got this in the wrong bin’. “He bid for the lorry while I was logged into my eBay account. I had to beg them to let me retract it but I can laugh about it now.” William, now eight, has mild autism. He will only read about waste disposal and desperate Fleur searched in vain for a children’s book on the subject. Eventually she wrote one herself – called Burt The Binman. William said: “I like Burt. He teaches mummies and daddies how to sort the rubbish properly.” Express
