"Ang lakas nang sumipa, sobra!" exclaims the six-month pregnant Claudine Barretto.

"Mukhang boy nga, eighty percent [sure]," says Claudine Barretto about her unborn baby. "Every month nga 憏ong ultrasound. 慪ong twice na nag-u-ultrasound ako, nakadapa siya, natutulog. Inaalog nila 憏ong tiyan ko para may makita!"

  

Claudine is already on her sixth month of pregnancy with her first child with husband Raymart Santiago. The couple already has an adopted two-year-old daughter, Sabina.

  

The actress discloses, "Ako noong una, gusto ko ng girl kasi si Sabina lang ang Santiago na babae, so medyo nagkakaroon ng tendency na ini-spoil ng lahat, lalo sa side ni Raymart kasi only girl.

  

"Tapos mga maliliit sa Barrettos, 憏ong mga anak ni Marjorie [Claudine's elder sister], puro boys. Ang kalaro niya [Sabina], puro boys. Sa school lang siya nakakalaro with girls. Gusto ko sana may kalaro, pero noong tumagal, gusto ko rin para hindi ma-traumatize."

  

Claudine says they have already explained to Sabina about the baby.

  

"Naiintindihan na niya, pero siyempre, sabi nila iba pa rin 'pag nakita na. 'Pag nakita na biglang aano na naman kasi magti-three [years old] pa lang siya," says the Walang Kapalit star.

  

Claudine says she and Raymart are planning to name their baby Rodrigo.

  

The expectant mother explains, "Kailangan 慠.' E, wala na. Naubos na ng family ni Raymart, lahat ng [names na] 慠.' Buong angkan, 慠' kasi, e. Pero 'pag girl hindi kailangan na 慠,' basta ang boy lang ang 慠.'" (Raymart's brothers are Randy, Rowell, and Reily or Jun-jun.)

  

She admits, "Hindi ako marunong sa boy. Parang mahirap 憏ong boy. Siguro dahil sanay ako sa mga pamangkin kong girls. Si Leon [Marjorie's son] hindi na sa akin lumaki, hindi kagaya ng mga girls. Tsaka magulo sila. Although si Sabina, ganoon kasi ang mga kalaro nila boys. Sa tingin ko, matututunan ko naman 憏on."

  

Unlike other pregnant women, Claudine says she did not experience much of the symptoms.

  

"Sabi ni Raymart bumait ako!" she says candidly.

  

She adds, "I eat whatever I want basta hindi lang masyadong sweets kasi baka magka-diabetes, 憏ong gestational diabetes.

  

(According to a medical dictionary, pregnant women who have never had diabetes before, but who have high blood sugar or glucose levels during pregnancy are said to have gestational diabetes.)

  

"Dati noong hindi ako nagbubuntis, hindi ako nagra-rice. Hindi ako nagmi-meat. Hindi ako nagpo-pork. Hindi ako nagbi-beef. Ngayon, lahat. Bumalik ako sa pagkain ng pork and beef kasi mahirap 憏ong puro vegetables lang. Naglihi [ako], manggang hilaw and toyo. Gusto ko ng duhat, pero wala namang duhat."

  

Claudine ends, "Nagho-hope nga ako na hindi maputi. Ayoko ng maputi talaga."

Gretchen and Claudine finally reconciled!

They reportedly avoided each other. The elder sister refused to comment about their rift. The younger sister vaguely talked about it. Then one day, Gretchen and Claudine finally bumped into each other梬ill such chance meeting put an end to their almost-three-year-old gap? Noel Orsal




Since the news about the feud of Barretto sisters erupted in June 2004, their reconcialiation has been on a wait-and-see mode. The gap reportedly started with Gretchen and Marjorie having a heated argument about the hiring of Willie Revillame as the host of Puso o Pera, a defunct noontime show of ABC 5梬hich is owned by Tonyboy Cojuangco, Gretchen's partner.

  

Dennis Padilla, Marjorie's husband and Gretchen's brother-in-law, used to be Willie's co-host in ABS-CBN's defunct noontime show Masayang Tanghali Bayan. Some reports claimed that the show was cancelled due to Willie, and Dennis allegedly blamed him because he was suddenly out of work.

  

To cut the story short, Marjorie's family left the Loyola Grand Villas house, which Gretchen supposedly owned. It was never confirmed whether they were kicked out or they chose to move out.

  

Reconcilion朏alse Alarm? It was August 2005 when Claudine first insinuated that she and Gretchen were already okay, that they already ironed out their differences over the phone last January 2005, and that Claudine invited Gretchen to her wedding.

  

The youngest of the Barretto sisters got married last March 27, 2006, but Gretchen was not in attendance. The latter's camp issued a statement months prior to the date of wedding stating: "Claudine had assured Ms. Barretto that her contrition was genuine [referring to the phone call made by Claudine in January 11, 2005] and would be accompanied by a public retraction and or clarification of the damaging and hurtful statements she had issued. This has not been done. Under those circumstances, Claudine's announcement that everything between her and Ms. Barretto is 憃kay' is a puzzling assertion, even as it is obviously incorrect."

  

Reconciliation梟ot yet fated to happen. During the anniversary dinner of YES! held last February 28, 2007, Gretchen kept mum when asked about her reaction if just in case Claudine suddenly showed up at the party. It was her friend Ruffa who answered for her: "Yung mga ganu'ng bagay, dapat huwag pilitin. If it happens, it happens. At saka mas maganda kung magbabati sila in private, na sila lang dalawa ang mag-uusap at hindi sa isang showbiz event na gaya nito."

  

In an article posted by PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last March 29, 2007, Claudine was also asked about her elder sister, she said: "Sana maayos. Sana, of course, makilala niya 憏ong pamangkin niya pero mahirap mag-hope... I'm hoping na kapag okay na, dire-diretso na."

  

Reconciliation梖inal? And the latest news, Claudine and Gretchen reportedly had a chance meeting at a grocery store in Makati. The latter, according to the report of GMA-7's Nelson Canlas, cried buckets of tears. In the exclusive interview, Claudine relayed, "I don't want to go into details, kasi siguro matagal naming hinintay ito, mas maganda yung sa amin na lang muna 'to."

  

"It was a very emotional and it was a very, very good meeting," th actress of Walang Kapalit also revealed.

  

Final or false alarm? PEP has yet to get the official statement of Gretchen.

Angel Locsin to sign contract with ABS-CBN on August 10

Angel Locsin's manager, Becky Aguila, confirmed that the actress will immediately sign a contract with ABS-CBN on her arrival in Manila from London on Friday, August 10.
  
"As soon as Angel comes back [we will sign the contract]. Wala pa kaming concrete, basta nandun lang 'yung assurance namin sa kanila [ABS-CBN], verbally. They have our word na we're going to sign. So as soon as Angel comes back pipirma na kami," Aguila said in a presscon sponsored by ABS-CBN last Friday, August 3.
  
The Philippine Daily Inquirer also reported today, August 5, that Becky Aguila had confided to reporter Bayani San Diego Jr. Angel's official transfer to the Kapamilya network by signing her contract on August 10. Becky called the Inquirer when the news first came out in public that Angel was indeed transferring.
  
"I had a heart to heart talk with Angel and her dad," Becky revealed. "In time, I hope they would understand our decision," she continued pertaining to GMA-7's disappointment with their decision.
  
Angel's father, on the other hand, Angel Colmenares, defended his daughter by saying that she fulfilled her job with GMA through hard work and that both parties mutually benefited during the partnership.
  
Mr. Colmenares also said that his daughter assured him that she was "all right" during their last phone conversation.
  
He also told Angel "not to mind the intrigues because what is important is the truth. Should other people feel aggrieved or slighted by your decision, you shouldn't worry because your relationship with GMA-7 had been mutually beneficial . . . Suffice it to say, our decision was based on a sense of fairness."
