Cemburu mungkin punca Rafie disimbah asid
PETALING JAYA 22 Ogos - Faktor cemburu dipercayai menjadi punca Mohd. Rafie Abdul Latif, disimbah dengan asid berhampiran Wisma Bumi Raya, Kuala Lumpur pada 8 Ogos lalu, sehingga menyebabkan mukanya mengalami kecederaan teruk.
Timbalan Ketua Polis Negara, Datuk Seri Khalid Abu Bakar berkata, siasatan berhubung kes itu mendapati ia melibatkan hubungan cinta mangsa.
"Berdasarkan maklumat yang kita ada hasil tangkapan seorang lelaki baru-baru ini, polis berjaya menyelesaikan kes simbah asid melibatkan Mohd. Rafie," katanya pada sidang akhbar selepas melancarkan Ops Sikap ke-24 di sini, hari ini.
Mohd. Rafie yang juga anak saudara kepada penyanyi era 80-an, Datin Ramziela Radzillah disimbah asid ketika berada dalam kereta berhampiran tandas awam di Wisma Bumi Raya, Jalan Raja Laut di ibu negara.
Susulan siasatan polis, seorang lelaki ditahan kelmarin di ibu negara bagi membantu siasatan kes itu.
Sementara itu, Khalid memberitahu, polis turut mengenal pasti seorang suspek yang terlibat dalam beberapa kes simbahan cecair dipercayai asid di sekitar Lembah Klang sejak awal tahun ini.
"Bagi mengesan suspek kes ini, ia memakan masa kerana dia dipercayai melakukan aktiviti itu tanpa motif. Kita mengenal pasti seorang suspek namun belum menahannya.
"Saya juga percaya, mereka yang melakukan perkara ini tidak waras namun polis akan melakukan apa yang patut untuk menjaga keselamatan awam," katanya.
Sejak Februari lalu, kes simbah cecair dipercayai asid berleluasa di ibu negara dan polis menerima lebih 20 kes yang kebanyakannya melibatkan mangsa wanita. |

KUALA LUMPUR: His family knew he was leading a secret life as a transvestite.
Little did they expect Mohd Ra fie Abdul Latif’s (pic) close relationship with another man to lead to his features being tragically disfigured in a savage acid attack.
The 28-year-old sustained horri fic chemical burns to the face and body after being splashed with acid on Aug 8. His friend, who accompanied him moments before the incident, emerged as the chief suspect and has been detained.
Yesterday, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters the act was believed to have been motivated by “jealousy over a lover”.
The family, however, has not ruled out it is Mohd Ra fie’s “soft” characteristics which could have resulted in him becoming a victim.
His elder brother, Mejar Mohd Jeffry Abd Latif, revealed the family knew about his effeminate tendencies.
“We knew he was a transvestite. He has been that way for the last two years,” he said.
Mohd Jeffry had initially declined to talk about his brother’s sexuality but only agreed a fter police disclosed the possible jealousy motive.
“He had always been di fferent even from young.
“He liked to put on makeup and had lots of girlfriends. He was very close to them.”
'My brother does not deserve this fate'
He said the family found it hard, especially when they learned he had started dressing up as a woman and began working as a perfume seller, but accepted him anyway.
"I knew about his sexuality but never thought it could cause him to be taken advantage of. And here he is now, lying on a hospital bed."
The family, however, do not know what relationship Mohd Rafie had with the suspect and what transpired between them.
Said Mohd Jeffry: "This is hard for us to digest. As of Sunday, we thought he was a good friend and he was subsequently detained as a prime suspect. Now, police are saying the motive could be due to love and jealousy.
"I thought my brother was a victim of the serial acid-splasher. With the latest disclosure, I was obviously wrong and it was personal all along."
He said whatever his brother's nature might be, he did not deserve to suffer this fate.
"He is still my brother and I hope people will not judge him harshly. He does not deserve to be in this situation just because of his sexuality."
Police now believed the suspect sneaked behind Mohd Rafie and splashed him with the chemical. It is believed he had then driven the victim to the hospital and concocted a story to the police.
It was earlier feared Mohd Rafie had become the latest victim of the notorious acid-splasher-robber who had disfigured two other people in Sungai Besi on July 26 and last Tuesday in Cheras. |
