Its latest Walkman phone, the W810i, tops my list as the best of the series so far.
The candy-bar phone is light and small, and has a bright 1.9-inch, 242,000-colour LCD display.
Encased in a satiny-black chassis with a squiggle of Walkman's trademark orange, the svelte 99g phone is definitely a good-looker.
Don't forget to play around with the W810i's various themed wallpapers.
A must-try is the Emerge theme. It turns your phone into a mini lava lamp with an animated wallpaper of little orange lava bubbles swirling and melding into a white viscous background.
What is even cooler is that, as you navigate the menu panel, every push of the button produces a jolt of vibration.
The W810i's earpiece comes in two parts. The first is the microphone which connects to the phone, the second is a 3.5mm earbud stereo earpiece which connects to the first section.
This allows you to use any standard 3.5mm earpiece or headset, instead of the one that comes with the phone.
The five-way thumbstick on the W810i's predecessor has been replaced with a five-button navigation pad. While this new input mechanism feels more solid, it lacks the smoothness of the original.
A new activity menu button added to the front of the phone lets you access stuff on the fly. For example, you check your missed calls and unread SMS messages, turn on Bluetooth, infra-red and the camera light as well as put the phone on silent mode.
The quad-band GSM means this baby works in just about any country in the world with a GSM network.
The W810i also has standard features like Java games, e-mail, SMS, MMS, infra-red and Bluetooth for wireless connectivity, a calendar, Chinese language support, an FM radio and a sound recorder.
With Bluetooth, you can use your phone as a 'remote control' for your Powerpoint presentations.
And let's not forget the powerful
2-megapixel camera with Photo Light.
Like the model before it, the W810i has one of the best autofocus capabilities and fantastic photo quality for a camera phone.
I would say it is comparable to a 2-megapixel digital camera.
20 CDS OF SONGS
If you can't live without your music, the W810i has 20 megabytes of internal memory and a 512MB Memory Pro Duo external memory card for storing 20 CDs worth of songs.
And if that's still not enough, get a card with 2GB for even more songs.
The sound comes blasting through three black mini-speakers at the back of the phone.
Loudness was the Achilles heel of the W800i, but with the W810i, you will bring the roof down when you play this device in an enclosed space.
My only gripe with the phone is that its loudspeaker is not clear enough for taking hands-free calls while driving.
I would recommend the W810i to anyone looking for a simple-to-use phone that plays great music and shoots even better pictures. |

- ok ah aku satisfied for the price dapat 2 mp punye kamera...
- charger dia much better dari Motorola nye style so far la pada aku.
- 1GB data , kalo micro sd kad kat yahoo auction $85 dah...kat kedai $100++ , mustapa $115.
Bad points
- Kalo dulu Motorola aku sebulan pun masih tak reti set alarm, yang ni aku tak reti add new names
kalo aku add number kan, patut nanti type in the name kan ? ni aku tak reti la.....
- aku try video recording kat konsert TOTO, ok ah visual pasal aku jauh, lagipun malam kan, tapi sound pecah ah....sound aku kasi 0/100 hehehe , ni not for bootlegging music audio. Tapi kalo cam pick up sound biasa alrite la.
ni model kat mustapa takde line, ada warranty aku rasa.. $560 tak silap. |
