Spain's team doctor Jorge Candel was quick to come out after the game playing down the injury.

"The injury of Torres is not of major importance," said Candel.

Torres then confirmed he came off at his own request to make sure he did not damage himself with Liverpool's match with Chelsea very much on his mind.

Arsenal and Manchester United fans unite behind Liverpool - for a day at least

You have to love this time of year and the strange bedfellows that a title chase can bring together.

A week ago Manchester United fans were pulling for their neighbors against Arsenal and then immediately after the Gunners win over City, Arsenal fans were cheering on North London rivals Tottenham against the Red Devils - at least for a moment.

Now, both United and Arsenal fans are likely to be pulling for another "Big Four" rival as Liverpool head to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea have used a string of good results to work their way up the table enough to have United and Arsenal players paying attention to the surging Blues.

A draw by Liverpool - or even a win - could allow the two leaders to focus on each other more over the next couple months.

So can it be true? United fans cheering for Liverpool? I'd say for two hours on Sunday you'll see that rare occurrence.

During the last night game Fernando Torres asked his national side manager Luis Aragones to substitute him in 23rd minute of the first half. It was later diagnosed that he had suffered a hamstring sprain making him unavailable for this Sunday's EPL clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Rafa Benitez said (according to skysports): "You cannot play on after an injury like this, it is a big risk. He will not play at Chelsea.We will wait for the result of the scan, but I have no doubt he will miss the weekend."

Louis Saha will be back in contention for the Arsenal game next Saturday.

He is still among Europe's finest when manages to play through a month without getting injures. But it is more and more in the realm of fantasy. Should we decide NOW to sell him? No. That would not make sense.
