Funand Learning Experience for Nissan ALMERA Customers
Shah Alam, 20 March 2013 –The Nissan Lightfoot Quest 2013 organised by Edaran Tan Chong Motor(ETCM) was a fun and learning experience for Nissan ALMERA customers.Through this contest, it has proven once again that the Nissan ALMERAis economically fuel-efficient. This competition was held on 17 March2013, and was exclusively opened to owners of the all-new NissanALMERA.
Dato’ Dr. Ang Bon Beng, ExecutiveDirector of ETCM said, “ETCM is delighted to have initiated thisNissan Lightfoot Quest 2013 competition as it was a great chance forour customers to acquire theright driving techniques inorder to enjoy higher fuel-efficiency of their Nissan ALMERA.”
Participants were required to refueland hand over their vehicles, followed by a briefing session on therules and regulations at Holiday Inn Glenmarie, Shah Alam, Selangor.The excited Nissan ALMERA owners then drove their way to a petrolstation in Gopeng, Perak, where the fuel tanks were refueled and theconsumption calculated. Representatives of the National Union ofJournalists (NUJ) were on hand to observe and verify the results.
The event organisers then shared withthe participants a few driving tips that may reduce their fuelconsumption. Some of the tips were accelerating lightly and smoothlyat a same speed momentum, avoid unnecessary load in the car, avoidexcess idling by turning off the engine and finally, to warm-up a carwhich only takes a good 30 seconds.
As a requirement in this contest,air-conditioner was switched on and the controller sealed, while thepetrol tank and the front bonnet were also sealed till the refuelingpoint. Tempering any of this, participants would be disqualifiedimmediately.
The number of entries for thiscompetition was 33 Nissan ALMERA vehicles with a total number of 66participants. The contest was divided into two categories- Customercategory and Media category.
The Grand Prize winner for thecustomer category, Chen Khong Lung and Lai Leh Mey had mix feelingsof shocked and happiness when they learned that they were the luckywinners as they bagged RM5,000 in cash with 27.2km/Litre. The firstrunner-up was Rebecca Tan Cheng Ann and Lee Beng Tan who walked awaysmiling with RM 3,000 cash while second runner-up, Muhammad IzzuddinIlias and Mohd Faisal Kamarudin felt equally delighted as they cashedhome RM2,000.
When asking the grand winners on theirsuccess, they said,” We were extremely surprised and taken back bythe fuel-efficiency of the Nissan ALMERA after having a glimpse atthe refuel meter as we waited for the final results. We were worriedof the time duration given while trying to maintain the vehicle’sspeed and focusing on driving smoothly.”
“We were shocked to realise that wecame up top among the rest, as we kept our fingers crossed at therefueling point. This proves that with proper driving techniquesshared earlier by the event organisers, though under realisticdriving condition, Nissan ALMERA was certainly able to reach itsoptimum fuel-efficiency”.
For the media category, the GrandPrize went to Khong Yin Swan and Ian Khong with 33.6km/Litre.
The Nissan ALMERA is known not onlyknown for its excellent fuel-efficiency, but truly lives up to itspromise of surprisingly more which are in its stylishly aerodynamicbody, premium technology features and spaciousness that are usuallyfound in more premium vehicles.
