KRABI - For newbies ...

These weather seasons roughly correspond with the tourist ::

high season (from November to April) and low season (from May to October)

What’s Krabi : Not an Island, a town quite near to the seaside of southern Thailand.

How to go there :
a)    Self-drive via Bukit Kayu Hitam Border around 322km away, perhaps to overnight @ Hatyai for a more relaxed travel :-
       KL - Bkt Kayu Hitam ~ 5 hrs via highway
       Bkt Kayu Hitam - Hatyai ~ 1 hr
       Hatyai - Krabi ~ 3.5 hrs
       **  Travelling time depends on your speed of course.

b)    By Bus/Train :  From KL take bus/train to Hatyai, go to the main bus station in Hatyai for bus to Krabi town – ticket would cost around RM30/pax/way.
       Bus from KL :  Quite a few express bus ply KL-Hatyai route - popular are Konsortium, Alisan, KKKL.  I've seen recently Syira Express - new bus with good rates.  Not recommending Kesatuan based on personal experience - journey too long coz it is not direct.  Please check when you purchase the ticket.  Ticket price depends on the type of bus I believe but the price range is from RM40-RM55/way.  Recommend to buy tickets separately not return in Kuala Lumpur.  

c)    By Air :  Air Asia / Tiger Airways

Doc required :-

a)  Self-drive :  valid passport (more than 6 mths from expiry date) car registration card (if possible original - ask the bank to release the document momentarily).  At Changloon, approach one of the many agents along the road to get Thai Car Insurance and the embarkation card.  The cost would be around RM20 for both car insurance & embarkation card for 2/3 pax.

b)  By public transportation : valid passport (more than 6 mths from expiry date)

Food Halal?
Since Muslim in Krabi is approx 42% of Krabi total population, halal food is not a big problem.  Muslim stalls and restaurants can easily be found within Aonang & Krabi - just look for ladies wearing headcovers and/or places with crescent sign (bulan sabit & bintang).

Stay : Around Aonang area, ie 30-40 mins drive from Krabi town/Airport.

When to go :  Any time of the year.. but best time ie cheapest : June – October ie Green Season.

VISA :: Tak diperlukan visa kalau dari Malaysia .

TAX :: Tak perlu.

Things to do :-
a)  Snorkeling of course,  3 top snorkeling tours : 4 Islands Tour; 5 Island Tour (Hong Island) ; Phiphi Island Tour
b)  Canoeing / Whitewater Rafting
c)  Ecotours incl Elephant Riding/Treking, visiting Hot Spring, Emerald Pool, Nature Safari

e)  Diving
f)   Thai Massage - MUST TRY - good and cheap!

Transportation dari airport Krabi ke Aonang:~ (Pengalaman sendiri ye

a) van : 600baht satu van (perway) ke Aonang.
           Ke krabi ( tak sure ye)

b) mini bus : 150baht

Kaunter bas ni ada dalam airport,lepas kita amik luggage tu,terus ada kat depan kaunter tu.Shuttle bas tulisan tu. masa naik,terrus bagitau hotel kita .gtau nak turun Krabi or Aonang...sure diorang dah fasih bab2 hotel kita....turun krabi harga 900 baht ye. Lebih kurg dkat sejam jugak.depend pada org yg nk brenti tu.

insyaAllah akan fly ke krabi end of june ni. betul2 tiket flight je yg dah book. hotel tak book lagi. tengah mentelaah rumah 2 dan baru sampai page 10. tapi rasanya cam nak amik aonang orchid. cuma nak tanya, ada sorang forummer @afieza_ariffin dekat rumah lama ada provide package stay dekat aonang orchid kan. masih ada lagi ke package tu. sebab masa saya baca tu posting awal 2012. sekarang dah mid 2013. afieza ni masih aktif tak?

nak tanya jugak, apa aktiviti yang sesuai kalau gi sana bawak baby umur 1tahun ye? kalau nak gi snorkelling sesuai ke? target utama gi sana nak rehat and makan2.

Yg frust ..minggu ni cuaca krabi ..dijangka hujan..phi2 island td , x dpt pergi maya bay sbb big wave katanya..huhu

Aonang goodwill dkt area mcdonald jugak.dkt dgn msjid yg tgh renovate...byk kedai mkn muslim kat sblah sini...

Dapat phi2 island 950/pax utk speedboat.

Elepant trekkint+ emerald pool,hot spring utk one day 900/pax

Mlm td pergi steambot restaurant dkt hotel 149/pax..ada grill n mknn lain.minum x termasuk .juice 40 baht je. Nanti sy share lg ape yg saya tau...

Semua duit dlm nilai baht ye.hehe

ermmm...tengah berkampung kt dlm bilik hotel nie. hujan dr sampai td....skalindgn ribut. patot la low season june, coz musim hujan. xbole nk g pipinisland. dah buk ground trip pg td. jenuh menawar....

Tak perlu picit loceng.masa naik bas kat epot,terus bgtau nk ke hotel aonang orchird

Stakat saya ke krabi ni, visa x diperlukan..
