Two Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Ijhtihad-class patrol vessels were struck by a Panama-registered car carrier Trans Future 2 in the Port of Muara, Brunei, on 23 February. An RBN official informed IHS Jane's that the vessels, KDB Berkat and KDB Afiat , sustained damage from the collision, although no loss of life or injury was reported.
The roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) carrier belonging to Japanese company Toyofuji Shipping was said to have experienced a jammed rudder as it approached the port. The car carrier collided first with Berkat , which was moored just off the naval jetty, before striking Afiat , which was berthed about 50 m away.
