i heard there was this 'Big-Bang' when they switched on the LHC last year and everything went quiet...
it was not me...

i'm into knowledge... in europe regularly but not working in CERN..

apasal korang buat rancangan selingan LHC kat sini pulak. Itu more towards research in particle physics and it should be known as particle collider

hadron bcoz it accelerates protons or ions, which are hadrons as compared to leptons..

end of last year, 28 proton treatment facilities were operating worlwide, over 70,000 patients benefitted from them... none in m'sia yet..
nuclear medicine can be very interesting.. especially with current development in particle therapy..

yes i know about that. by the way, there is LHC thread somewhere here.

by the way, the accelerator that used in medicine is far smaller than LHC.

if energy of a proton/any nuclei exceed more than 1 GeV, it will become high energy physics which is particle physics but this you need to learn quantum mechanics and nuclear physics before you extend the knowledge in particle physics

so tell me more about particle therapy then ..as it is very interesting, indeed.

proton maximum dose just before maximum penetration as compared to photons and electrons
thus reducing damage to surrounding tissue, the primary problem in radiation therapy.....

will there be any relationship between well i dunno the mass of the subatomic particles and the a) size? area of tissue damage
b) the therapeutic effect exerted by the tissue
c) penetration - the depth of it?

Kalau begitu Puan it would be nice from now, for her to

a) to set the right intention ( someone important told me this)
b) the right thinking  for learning
c) the right attitude for learning
d) Know how to get there and be good at it

e) Balik dan contribute kat Malaysia - ilmu tu ..insya ALLAH.
Bless her.

belajar je apa yg dia minat... we need all kinds of knowledge in malaysia.

pasal kerja tu..banyak.. kalau kita jadi pakai nuclear power lagi banyak peluang kerja (tapi ni lebih nuclear engineering, bukan nuclear physics).

anyway, take a very long view la... kebanyakan orang akan bertukar2 career... degree kimia, start keje dgn BASF, lepas 5 tahun keje dgn shell pulak tapi bukan sebagai chemist, tapi jadi project manager ke... lepas 5 tahun keje dgn Babcock Wilcox pulak jadi consultant.... hilang dah degree kimia dia tu.... background nuclear physics + experience kerja tu akan laku di banyak tempat.

a) dose to healthy tissue b4 and beyond the target volume i.e tumor is lesser for proton thus less damage
b)highest dosage just b4 max penetration i.e at target volume thus most damaging to tumor for proton
c)photon and electron will penetrate infinitely(?) which is bad for healthy tissue, wherelse proton will loose all energy just after the bragg peak at the tumor, safer for everybody.
