Hmmmmmmmmm......pertama kali tengok mcm menarik....skrin besar walaupun x setanding Galaxy Mega...tp antara galaxy Grand dan Mega skrin saiznya....1.5GHz Quad Core....16-Core CPU ....hmmm...2GB RAM...Urrrm....hanya 8GB IOnternal ....Android 4.1 je??....

Call me Captain Obvious or whatever but I really have to get this thought out of my mind first:  the recently launched Huawei Ascend Mate is one gigantic device. Equipped with 6.1-inch 720p IPS+ display that covered with Corning Gorilla Glass and can be operated while using glove, the Ascend Mate pretty much towers all other smartphones that we put next to it. While it might be tall, the Ascend Mate doesn’t feel that bulky in my hand though – most probably due to its body dimensions of 9.9mm.

Made its debut at CES 2013 earlier this year, the Ascend Mate is powered by the company’s own K3V2 chipset which features a 1.5GHz quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 CPU and a 16-core GPU by Vivante. The company has also equipped generous amount of RAM at 2GB into the device together with 8GB of internal storage. While it supports up to 21Mbps HSPA+ data connectivity through its Intel XMM6260 modem, the Ascend Mate doesn’t come with LTE capability though.

Running on Android 4.1, the Ascend Mate actually features an in-house user interface implementation that Huawei called as Emotion UI. Among interesting characteristics that the interface has is the lack of application drawer as per standard interface but instead, apps are listed directly on the home screen. Additionally, there’s also the floating Easy Panel that provides fast access to several selected apps such as calculator, notes, messages and video player.

Hmmmmmmmm....boleh dipertimbangkan....Huawei ni kan terkenal dengan harga yg murah....so ada options samada nak sambar Grand , Mega atau Yang ni...

6.1″ Huawei Ascend Mate gets priced at RM1,599

Harga dah Cungggggggggggg...

For those want bigger smart phone screens but yet not too huge for your pockets, you might want to check out the 6.1″ Huawei Ascend Mate which is now available in Malaysia. Priced at RM1,599, it comes with a 6.1″ IPS+ 720p HD display that pushes 1280×720 pixels resolution.

Under the hood, it runs on Huawei’s very own K3V2 1.5GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. In the camera department, it comes with a 8MP shooter and a front facing 1MP camera for video calls. The biggest highlight would be its battery that’s rated at 4,050mAh capacity. That’s 950mAh more than the Galaxy Note II which comes with 3,100mAh capacity. In our short hands-on at MWC 2013, the Huawei Ascend Mate feels rather solid and comes with nice UI touches to make single handed operations more usable.

When it was announced early this year, the Huawei Ascend Mate boasts the largest smart phone screen but it is now overshadowed by the Samsung Galaxy Mega that comes with a 6.3″ display.

Head after the break for our hands-on video from MWC 2013.
