Lady Gaga revealed Friday (Sept. 16) that the video for "Perfect Illusion" will premiere Tuesday during the season 2 premiere of Fox's Scream Queens (9 p.m. ET).
The nine-second preview of the clip features some images familiar to Little Monsters by now: Gaga onstage in jean cut-offs and a black T-shirt swinging a microphone around her head as an ecstatic festival crowd screams in excitement. The video was directed by fashion photographer Ruth Hogben. The news comes on the heels of another major announcement Thursday, when Mother Monster revealed that her fifth album is titled Joanne and it will drop Oct. 21.
The album title is a tribute to Gaga's aunt Joanne, who was just 19 when she died of lupus in 1974. One of Gaga's middle names is Joanne and her dad, Joe Germanotta, named his New York restaurant Joanne Trattoria after his late sister.
The singer also unveiled the tame (for her) cover of the album.
In the Thursday interview with Zane Lowe on Beats Radio, Gaga announced that she'll be finished with the album before the weekend and that she collaborated with songwriter Hillary Lindsey (Carrie Underwood's "Jesus, Take the Wheel") on the project. Other collaborators include Beck, Mark Ronson, Tame Impala's Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, Florence Welch, Father John Misty, Giorgio Moroder, Queens of the Stone Age leader Josh Homme, longtime producer RedOne, and BloodPop.
