Moving to london..

Hi,

Saye nak tumpang tanye, kpd yg sudi membantu.. next Jan hubby, me n kids (5 months old & 2 1/2 yr) will be going to London. Hubby ade project. Bole tak kengkawan recommend kat mane nak tinggal for a few months? may be some place yg senang dpt tube transport, conducive environment for children. n also ezy access to shop for groceries mcm halal daging, ayam. bukan nak Pakistan/ arab area.. just from our place kite bole ke sini.. i mean kite bole naik tube ke tempat2x ni.

ade agent yg dah contact from hubby's office tapi die tanye kite nak tinggal kat mane? dulu dtg london as tourist. so tak tau le area mane yg ok..
hubby will be working at shell centre. klu servis apartment kat london (fully furnished) sempit & mahal. takut my kids uncomfortable. so ingat nak carik rumah.

rumah pon nak yg fully furnished.. area mane yg ok.. selamat..  i understand london ni ade central, east, north etc. dah le tu ade mcm2x zon.

Please help.

i pun x pandai nak rekemen tempat exactly, tp memang kalo nak save duit, duduk kat luar london. masa i study dulu, i selalu gak pi twickenham.  dekat jugak dgn hounslow, tempat jual makanan2 halal. kalo naik train ke london pun x amik masa sgt. i suggest u contact malaysian department kat sane terus, untuk tanya. kot ada org2 melayu kat sana yg ada rumah.

FYI ..

London ada 6 zones ... public transport tip top. Tube every 1-3min. Not a problem.

Soal makan pon not a big problem. Halal food store bersepah2.

Soal rumah, mostly kat sana semua fully furnished.

Soal mana nak tinggal ni ... sebenarnya banyak pilihan. Tepuk dada tanya selera. Kat mana exactly location office hubby u ? Kalau nak senang duduk dekat dgn office but of course rumah mahal tapi compensate jugak dgn transport cost yg murah ... Nak jauh sikit cari  yg boleh acces from the same line. Contoh kalu office hubby u dekat Green Park , cari rumah yg sekitar2 Victoria Line, atau Piccadily Line. Contoh sekitar Zone One ... sekitar Marble ARch tu ada Malaysian Hall, jauh skit tapi masih dlm Zone One ada Edgware road .. kat situ kawasan org Arab, so makanan tak der masalah.

Kalau u nak cari kawasan melayu rasanya kat Walthamstow (zone 4), Leytonstone (zone 3) , East Ham (Zone 4)  ramai .. lagipon kat situ kaum2 India pon ramai ... jadik food supply u tak payah risau.

Sebenarnya duduk London ni tak susah .. lagipon ramai foreigner jadik tak lah rasa janggal sangat.

actually hubby will be based in Shell Centre, London SE1 7NA .. klu nak duduk dlm london city itself, mane area ok?  kat google map try gak carik location office ni tapi tak tau kat mane..(jalan ape)..

if not bole tgk map to tgk distance of property & office..

kalau ikut postcode SE = SOUTH EAST, kawasan tu kat zone i, tapi south of the Thames River. Rasanya office hubby u tu dekat area2 Waterloo. ( teringat lagu klasik ABBA eh) no so far from the famous WESMINSTER ABBEY, HOUSES OF PARLIMENT tapi at the other side of the river lah.  U ada option nak stay dekat2 sekitar zone one ( expensive sikit lah, tapi dekat ngan office) contoh kalau belah selatan London Bridge, Borough tu semua postcode SE jugak. Dulu ada few melayu duduk area tu sebab ada few Accountancy colleges around London Bridge, jadi ramai students. Skrg tak sure kalau2 kolej tu dah pindah.

Kalau u nak rumah yg agak sederhana harga sewa, kena move to zone 2,3 and so on. Ada my frens yg duduk dekat are Poplar and Greenwich ( yes, that famous Greenwich !!!! ) ... tak jauh, even nak jimat bley catch the bus pon ke area Waterloo and London Bridge tuh. Soal makan as i said, not a problem, banyak halal store run by mostly Pakistani. East side of London .... mmg no problem. Kalau u nak duduk belah West pon boleh mcm Chelsea ( elite site), Acton ... tapi jauhlah sikit (sikit ajer), for sure kena use the TUBE. Kalau Nort East, area posh mcm Hampstead ( dats where the Malaysian High Commissioner stays), Fincley, Kilburn ( IKEA is there!! )

Nak duduk belah North pon boleh jugak (maksudnya North of Thames River) ... mcm bola ckp, tepuk dada tanya selera. Mcm bola dulu, even i work in zone One, i remained staying up north. Mmg jauh, took an hour to take me to office but not a problem coz trains are punctual. North East (postcode NE) ramai Asians ... meriah sikit and i don't mind travelling and beat the hustling and bustling. Hiksss



Rent rates are quoted per week ... Salary kat sana are quoted per year. Contoh kalau nak rent a room biasanya paling murah kat zone one tu 60 to 100 per week .... tu dpt bilik kecik ajer. 1 to 3 bedroom house (again tgk area) will cost around 400 and more a week. Generally, houses around London mmg kecikkk jerr... hehheee.

West side of London, tak ramai asians, ramai local matsaleh ...
and rumah kat belah2 west relatively mahal ...

the two places u mention tu are not within the vacinity of Greater London tho. Mungkin forum member yg pernah duduk di kawasan Surrey boleh bantu abm .. sbb bola tak arif.

dekat sini transport very reliable...so no worries aaa...makanan halal pon bersepah jerrr...huhuhu...selalunya tempat pilihan eastham..ealing...walthamstow..whitechapel...

tq Darsita. hehe.. i baru gak shortlist a few property yg nak sewa. (carik kat Internet gak..). maybe bile tiba sane stay kat hotel dulu about 1 week. then carik gi tgk rumah2x/ apartment.

hubby prefer we stay kat apartment. sbb die risau me n kids tinggal kat rumah alone. at least apartment ade security. tapi abm risau my little boy ni suke menjerit2x.. kang neighbour complain..

klu rumah maybe ade more area n he can run around.. btol tak..   what say u..?  may b forumer lain bole kasi feedback gak..  thanks..

brp estimation for cost of living in london? let's say i stay kat zone 1 london.. cukup tak belanje mkn minum, baby things, transport dlm 1000-1300 pound?

if medical, mcm mane ye? klu my husband's employer tak cover.. hos do i proceed. can i buy insurance there? i mean for me n kids.. sbb tak sure medical for family kat oversea employer die cover tak.. klu kat m'sia ni die cover.   pls advise.. ke ade kengkawan lain bole tlg jwpkan..

mcm bola dulu, we all request kat landlord nak bayar awal bulan. so depa akan siap2 kira, sebulan jadi berapa. So far yg bola encounter 3 landlord depa semua ok ajer kita nak bayar monthly. Ikut nasib lah kot


lagi satu, reason for weekly rate is quoted sebab gaji pon paid weekly ...

if u r talking about expenses excluding the RENT ... then 1000-1300 pound sterling would be more than enuf luv. Renting in zone one is skyhigh .. but u can cut the transport cost. Food cost etc will cost the same at any zone. Halal food in zone one oso not a problem. Lots of malaysian restaurant around, China Town is around the corner. Can find almost anything under the sun. Heheeee ... x payah susah2 nak bawak dari malaysia pon.

its a good idea, u can stay temporarily at hotel, get familiarised with the surroundings first, then u can househunting. Buy LOOTS ( yg paling popular to find properties or secondhand cars) and look for houses at areas yg u nak duduk. Kalau nak jimat sikit, u can stay at Malaysia Hall temporarily. Nearest tube station to go to Malaysia Hall is Marble ARch, use the Central Line ( warna Merah) ... street is Bryanston Square. Not so far from edgware road, halal food bersepah.

smlm check kat tesco online. window shopping. just to make sure brg2x dapur yg biase gune ade.. my brother kate tesco bole deliver.. sampai sane once dah ade add rumah, register. hmm convenient gak.
lagi pon sane tgh winter ni.. malas nak kuar2x nanti. especially if me alone with this 2 kids...

Ceri nak tumpang selit sikit..

Sekarang ceri tengah survey supervisor untuk sambung study next year. Ada kawan pesan elakkan stay kat area London tapi supervisor yang ceri suka tu kat LSE (London School of Economics and Political Science)..

So sebelum ceri proceed dengan application, ceri nak tanya saper2 yang tau about cost of living, rental and so on kat area LSE tu.. Ceri pegi dengan hubby dan 2 kids, 1 & 4 yo. Kalau tak silap, elaun sara hidup around 1100 pound sebulan.
