COMPETITION for the kapchai segment of the Malaysian motorcycle market looks set to be more exciting in the coming months and well into 2014 and beyond with the release of Hong Leong Yamaha Malaysia's (HLYM) Lagenda 115Z. The unveiling of the all-new Lagenda kapchai came less than a week after Boon Siew Honda had launched its Honda Wave Dash-series of 110cc mopeds.
The Yamaha Lagenda 115Z is a new-generation sporty moped that is equipped with features that will be attractive to kapchai riders nationwide. Among the features of the 115Z are a new, air-cooled 4-stroke SOHC engine with fuel injection, a larger under seat storage (bigger than Honda's Wave) and compliance to all-related UNECE regulations.
HLYM also see the recent fuel prices increase will make more consumers to choose motorcycles over cars as their personal mode of transport to go to work and running errands.
"The finishing of the Lagenda 115Z also gives riders a high quality feel and a more confidence on-board riding experience. With its fuel injection system, not only will riders get to feel the power but also marvel at its fuel consumption. In fact, the reliability and efficiency of Yamaha's fuel-injection technology has been proven in our FZ150i model," said CH Ng, Managing Director of HLYM.
The bike also comes in a choice of sporty cast wheel or spokes, and available in several colours and graphics. HLYM also made available another variant of the bike, known as the Lagenda 115ZR, featuring the graphics and colours of its Factory Yamaha Racing MotoGP effort, with a host of additional features such as an LED backlight with blue dial instrument panel, lighted under seat storage compartment, air reservoir on the rear suspensions and tilt-able footrest.
"As part of our communication and promotional activities for the new model, we have created a game app called the "Tornado Run" which features the Lagenda 115Z. Owners of the 115Z are able to play this game on their smartphones," added Ng.
The "Tornado Run" game app has been adopted from the Lagenda 115Z's TVC, which will be aired on national and satellite TV stations soon. The game app has been developed for Android and iOS-based smartphones and gadgets. It can be downloaded for free from Google Play, Apple App Store and HLYM's website.
The Yamaha Lagenda 115Z models are available from all authorised Yamaha dealers nationwide now and are priced at RM4,972 for spoke wheel w/kick starter and at RM5,168 for cast wheel w/electric starter. The Lagenda 115ZR variant is set at RM5,410 (Peninsular Malaysia only excluding road tax, insurance and number plates).
