The chief medic of the Danish national team has admitted that it is highly unlikely that Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner will be able to shake off his injury in time for their next World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old barely lasted half-an-hour of his country’s 3-0 victory over Malta on the weekend before limping off clutching his knee. He now stands to miss Denmark's next game against Albania, in which case he very probably will also be absent for Arsenal's next fixture against Manchester City on Saturday.
Denmark’s team doctor, Soren Kaalund, told Ekstra Bladet: "It is looking very much the case that we must send him home to England.
“Such an injury requires rest and rest, and it is not a good opportunity here.”
National team boss Morten Olsen was not quite as pessimistic, though his comments were hardly very encouraging either.
“We opted to switch him out to not aggravate the injury for Wednesday’s match against Albania," said Olsen.
“It is an unfortunate injury, but we do not know yet how it looks in terms of Wednesday. He has irritation and pain in the left knee.” |

Robin van Persie will play no part in Holland's World Cup qualifying match against Macedonia on Wednesday due to a groin injury.
The Arsenal striker has left the Netherlands training camp in news that will alarm his club manager Arsene Wenger.
Van Persie had looked to have been returning to form of late after missing much of the campaign with a succession of injuries.
He was on target for the Dutch in Saturday's comfortable 3-0 victory over Scotland, but has now been sidelined with a fresh problem.
Van Persie's place is likely to be taken by Wesley Sneijder, who was overlooked in his favoured attacking midfield role at the weekend as the Arsenal man was given the nod. |

Fabregas: I spoke to Madrid but told them no
Midfielder Francesc Fabregas has revealed that he did indeed speak to Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon, but only briefly.
Fabregaswas quick to reiterate that he told Calderon that he was happy atArsenal, and that he wasn't interested in moving to the Spanish giants.
Fabregassaid: "It's true that the president of Real Madrid called mepersonally, we spoke on the phone, but I never gave him my word, Inever said to him that I was going to sign for Real Madrid.
"He asked about my progress and that was it.
"I have not given him nor anyone else the expectation that I will join them. The same goes for anyone who represents me.
"I am a person of my word and I can assure you that I have never given any club reason to believe that I would leave Arsenal.
"Nobody can say that they have agreed with me that I become part of their project. That is clear."
Fabregas praise for Arshavin
Captain Francesc Fabregas has heaped praise on new signing AndreyArshavin, saying that the Russian international can make a differenceto the Gunners' season.
The Spaniard did express his regret thatArshavin could not participate in the Champions League, but hoped thatthere would be a difference on the domestic front.
Fabregas said: "We are very happy to have him.
"Itis a shame he cannot play in the Champions League, but I am sure he canhave a very big impact until the end of the season."

wht the fcuk....seperti yang dijangka berita buruk dikeluarkan skysport yang mengesahkan bahawa van persie mengalami kecederaan groin..dia dikhabarkan sudah pun meninggalkan kem latihan belanda kerana 100% x dpat main lawan macedonia dan kini dalam perjalanan pulang ke London.Namun berapa lama kecederaan yang dialami itu untuk pulih belum dipastikan lagi..haish...aku ghase ni dah kali ketiga bila die men ngan negara mesti cedera nya..malang betol..hope die available untuk game lwan man city..kalau tak leh gak harap sangat die pat men lawan villareal..bendi juga dikhbarkan cedera..tapi tak tahu lagi macam mana kecederaan yang dialaminya...begitu juga arshavin...tapi hiddink dah bgtau aku td yang arshavin x teruk pun dan akan turun untuk next game..rusia lwan ape ntah..itu serba sedikit mengenai condition pemain2 arsenal di kem latihan negara masing2 |
