PASTAMANIA DAPAT SIJIL HALAL

RANGKAIAN restoran pasta dan makanan Italy, Pastamania, telah mendapat sijil halal minggu lalu bagi memanfaatkan potensi pasaran Islam di sini.

Dengan adanya sijil halal itu, restoran milik syarikat setempat, PastaMatrix International Ptd Ltd, itu berharap dapat meningkatkan penjualannya antara 10 dengan 15 peratus.

Ia telah mendapat sijil halal daripada Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (Muis) bagi kesemua 21 cawangannya di sini.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif (CEO)-nya, Encik Rashid Hassan, ketika ditemui di pejabatnya di Jalan Kilang Barat, Bukit Merah, semalam, berkata rangkaian restoran itu memutuskan untuk mendapatkan sijil halal ekoran yakin terdapat permintaan yang kukuh daripada masyarakat Islam di sini.

'Singapura mempunyai ramai penduduk beragama Islam di sini yang ingin mencuba pasta kami tetapi tidak berpeluang kerana ia tidak halal.

'Ramai yang bertanya bila restoran kami akan mendapatkan status halal. Ini termasuk daripada sebahagian pelanggan Islam dari luar negara yang ke sini, termasuk pelanggan rangkaian restoran kami di Malaysia,' ujar Encik Rashid, yang mengendalikan rangkaian restoran itu sejak dua tahun lalu.

Menurut Encik Rashid, selain permintaan yang tinggi, syarikatnya juga ingin menarik segmen baru dalam pasaran makanan dan minuman (F&B) di sini.

'Sekarang pelanggan Islam boleh menjamu selera dengan selesa di Pastamania. Dengan bertambahnya pelanggan baru di kalangan masyarakat Islam ini, kami menjangka pertumbuhan 10 hingga 25 peratus dalam masa terdekat,' kata beliau kepada Ekoniaga.

Bila ditanya sama ada kegawatan sekarang ini menjejas pendapatan syarikatnya, beliau mengaku kesannya dapat dirasakan.

'Kalau dibandingkan sebelum ini, restoran kami menikmati pertumbuhan 7 hingga 10 peratus setiap bulan. Namun, sejak akhir tahun lalu, kebimbangan tentang kemelesetan mula dirasakan dan pertumbuhan kami terhenti.

'Lantaran, kami tidak boleh duduk diam sahaja. Kami harus proaktif untuk terus menambat hati pelanggan. Salah satu strategi adalah menambah pelanggan dengan mempercepatkan proses mendapat sijil halal dari Muis,' tambah Encik Rashid.

Usaha Pastamania mendapatkan sijil halal mengambil masa lebih setahun.

'Proses itu memakan masa kerana ia melibatkan penyelidikan dan pengembangan (R&D) bagi mencari bahan alternatif yang halal.

'Umpamanya, makanan Italy ada yang menggunakan wain putih. Kerana ia haram di sisi agama, melalui R&D, kami dapat menggunakan bahan seperti cider epal bercampur dengan bahan lain untuk meniru rasa wain putih.

'Muis juga banyak membantu dalam mendapatkan sijil halal itu.'

Pastamania bermula pada April 1998 sebagai sebuah cawangan kecil di pusat makanan di besmen pusat membeli-belah Scotts Orchard Road.

Ketika itu ia dimiliki oleh seorang pelabur tetapi ia telah diambil alih oleh syarikat pelaburan GlobaMatrix Holdings dalam 2002 dan kini dikendalikan di bawah anak syarikatnya, PastaMatrix International Ltd.

Sejak itu, ia berkembang menjadi 21 cawangan. Selain di Singapura, Pastamania sudah pun mempunyai 14 cawangan halal termasuk enam di Kuwait, empat di Amiriah Arab Bersatu, tiga di Malaysia dan satu di Indonesia. Ia juga mempunyai tiga cawangan di India.

Antara cawangan setempatnya termasuk di Tampines Mall, Parkway Parade dan Bishan Junction 8.

'Kami merancang membuka lagi 100 cawangan di serata dunia dalam tempoh lima tahun akan datang,' tambah Encik Rashid.

yang paling best, saya kurang pasti.
tapi kat Jurong Point nyer Banquet, yong tau foo nyer memang sedap.

lagi satu, kalau ada sesiap merayap sampai ker Jurong, bleh ah singgah ke Boon Lay MRT station.
Ade kedai opposite Citibank jual nasi ayam $1.50. gerai sebelah dia jual Lemon Chicken rice $1.99. Ditanggung halal.

Singapore, April 16, 2009 - Kopitiam says the Nasi Padang stall in its outlet in NUH charges customers according to the prices on the menu board.

This came after STOMPer NG said that she was overcharged at the NUH Kopitiam foodcourt for a small portion of fried rice, bean sprouts and fish. She paid $6.40 for her food.

In its reply, Kopitiam says:

"We refer to the posting by STOMPer Ng on 13 April 2009 on her experience with the Ole Ole Nasi Padang Stall in our NUH Outlet.

"Upon receipt of the article on STOMP, our Outlet Operations Manager conducted an investigation into the incident with the Tenant of the stall.

"He informed that customers are charged according to the prices of the food displayed on the menu board.

"Moreover, the staff have been instructed to inform customers of the food pricing.

"The Manager has also addressed STOMPer’s feedback on the portion and quality of the fried rice with the Tenant.

"If STOMPer Ng wishes to seek further clarification on this matter, we would appreciate it if she could email us at [email protected], giving details of the date and time of the incident and the receipt for her purchase.

"We appreciate STOMPer Ng’s feedback as it helps us to continually monitor and improve our service and quality standards."

i try the chicken fillet burger meal.. i give rating 7.5 out of 10. harga dia satu set meal $10.95. can top up drinks.
lain2 menu.. masih ingin mencuba.
bolehlah u all bawak ur wife, ibu2, loved ones.. ke sini.. esp hari ibu tak lama lagi.

Permanent Geylang building market opening mid-July

The opening of the market’s new building has been brought forward at the request of the HUP Working Committee. Stallholders hope new premises will restore customer confidence.



Singapore, April 23, 2009 - The Geylang Serai permanent market is set to open in July – about three months ahead of schedule.

Stallholders were informed on Monday that they can start moving into the new premises along Changi Road in the middle of July.

In response to queries from The Straits Times, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said the opening date had been brought forward at the request of the Hawker Centres Upgrading Programme (HUP) Working Committee.

However, it declined to say if Indian rojak seller Sheik Allaudin Mohideen, 70, whose stall was at the centre of Singapore’s worst case of mass food poisoning, would be moving to the new double-storey building.

When contacted, Mr Allaudin would only say: “I’ve said all that I could say already, and right now the matter isn’t over. I haven’t been told anything more.”

Mr Allaudin’s licence was suspended after investigations into the food poisoning incident earlier this month – which killed two people and left 152 others ill – revealed food and environmental hygiene lapses at his stall.

He may be taken to court as a result.

When approached about the request to open the new market early, the chairman of the HUP Working Committee, Dr Ong Seh Hong, said: “As soon as the market is ready, there is no reason for stallholders to stay in the temporary market, which always has constraints.”

Added Dr Ong, an MP for Marine Parade GRC: “It is also good for our stallholders to have a new environment to work in, and it is good for the customers too.”

The HUP Working Committee comprises grassroots leaders and hawker representatives.

Yesterday, Dr Teo Cheng Swee, the chairman of the Kampong Ubi-Kembangan Citizens’ Consultative Committee, which oversees the Geylang Serai Temporary Market’s management committee, said the food poisoning incident was likely just one of “many factors” taken into consideration when the NEA made the decision to open the new market earlier.

Dr Teo noted that in a survey of the stallholders conducted several months ago, many had said they were keen to move into the new premises earlier.

He acknowledged that business at the temporary market has been hit by recent events. “If, by moving to the new place, they can improve their sales, stallholders should be happy. It’s important to consider the welfare of the stallholders, especially as times are bad.”

For stallholders, whose business has been badly hit in recent weeks, the move cannot come soon enough. Many said they hoped that their new premises would restore customer confidence.

Hygiene is also a top concern for the stallholders. Satay seller Sahari Sulaiman, 45, said: “Of course, we hope the new place will be cleaner. We have to learn from this incident. If it happens again, then teruk (terrible).”
