Yesil's scoring spree continues

Samed Yesil scored twice as Germany U19s beat Luxembourg 5-0 this weekend.

The 18-year-old fired his second and third goals of the international break to help ensure the Germans maintained their 100 per cent start to Euro U19 Championship qualifying.

He has now scored an incredible 31 goals in 32 appearances for his country at youth level.

Elsewhere in U19 action, Ryan McLaughlin could feature for Northern Ireland on Monday when they take on Moldova.

Jose Reina has returned from international duty to Liverpool with a strained hamstring.

The Spanish goalkeeper appeared to pick up the injury during the warm-up prior to Spain’s game against France this week.

Reports have suggested that Reina will not be able to play against Reading this Saturday and Brad Jones will be gifted his first Premier League start for the Reds.

Borini to undergo surgery

Liverpool have confirmed Fabio Borini is to undergo an operation on a fractured bone in his foot.


The forward originally sustained an injury to the area during the recent Anfield clash with Manchester United.

He then further aggravated the problem resulting in a fracture and returned from international duty with Italy last week.

Borini was assessed by the club's medical team upon his return to Melwood and a decision was made for the 21-year-old to have surgery.

Typically, an injury of this nature requires a three-month rehabilitation period.
