Trofeo TIM: Recoba cracker wins Cup Tuesday 14 August, 2007

A splendid Alvaro Recoba goal gave Inter the Trofeo TIM thanks to victories over both Milan and Juventus.

The Rossoneri were in the lead for the Trofeo TIM, as they had beaten Juventus 1-0 while the Nerazzurri only defeated Claudio Ranieri抯 side in a penalty shoot-out. Pippo Inzaghi made his first official appearance since the Champions League Final in Athens.

There was a minute抯 silence before kick-off for Inter team manager Guido Susini, who had also worked at Milan in his career, as he died this week aged 48.

Clarence Seedorf created the first chance with a backheel for Yoann Gourcuff, Paolo Orlandoni at full stretch to tip the fierce strike off target. Moments later Hernan Crespo pounced on a Dario Simic error to test Zeljko Kalac at the other end.

Milan went incredibly close on six minutes with a truly spectacular Inzaghi diving header and equally impressive Orlandoni save.

Inter introduced Mario Balotelli, a 17-year-old originally from Ghana who was adopted by an Italian family. Another youngster, Gourcuff, impressed with some fancy footwork combining with Andrea Pirlo.

There was drama at both ends, with Inzaghi抯 shot charged down by Douglas Maicon and moments later Crespo threatened Kalac抯 net.

Il Diavolo had a fantastic chance on 21 minutes, but Gourcuff was unlucky when Orlandoni fingertipped his fierce strike on to the inside of the post and it ricocheted back out to safety.

Marcos Cafu did hit the back of the net moments later, but it was correctly disallowed for an offside position.

It was Inter who broke the deadlock, though, as substitute Alvaro Recoba combined with Crespo and unleashed a stunning effort with that trademark left foot that floated over Kalac and into the top corner from 20 metres. The Uruguayan is expected to leave this summer and if this is his last San Siro goal, it was a pearl.

Francesco Toldo was back in goal now and parried a Pirlo free kick, while Kalac was almost taken by surprise on Balotelli抯 solo effort and Nelson Rivas got in the way of Nesta抯 header.

Recoba抯 free kick hit the defensive wall, Attila Filkor wasted a counter-attack and Inzaghi nodded a Pirlo set-piece over the bar.

Inter won this match 1-0 and so secured the Trofeo TIM for the fifth time. Milan came second, Juventus were third.

Trofeo TIM: Juve pay the penalty Tuesday 14 August, 2007

Inter were only able to beat Juventus on penalties in the opening game of the prestigious Trofeo TIM at San Siro.

Just days after clashing in the Trofeo Birra Moretti tournament, the two historic rivals met again for another 45-minute match.

This time the competition was at San Siro, although Juve had the brightest start and Vincenzo Iaquinta really should have scored with a couple of early chances, but drilled wide. Former Inter midfielder Cristiano Zanetti also had a piledriver smothered by Francesco Toldo.

Hasan Salihamidzic took advantage of a defensive error and was brought down on the very edge of the penalty area. Toldo punched away the Del Piero free kick.

The Nerazzurri hit the back of the net after 20 minutes, but it was disallowed for offside. Walter Samuel抯 header from the corner kick was valid, but Ivan Cordoba redirected it in from an offside position.

Cordoba was more valuable at the other end, where he charged down a Sergio Almiron strike, then Iaquinta touched on a Domenico Criscito header from a corner kick, but Toldo was ready.

Adriano didn抰 have the confidence to take his shot first time from Julio Cruz抯 assist, allowing Criscito to clear for a corner.

The match ended goalless after 45 minutes and went to penalties. Toldo saved Criscito抯 first kick and Luis Jimenez sent Buffon the wrong way. Iaquinta converted into the near top corner with the inside of his right foot, while Cruz抯 chip went in off the underside of the crossbar.

Jorge Andrade抯 kick beat Toldo and Samuel also fired hard and high to ricochet in off the bar. Salihamidzic sidefooted a precise low finish into the corner and Cesar Aparecido抯 unusual run-up confused Buffon, firing to his right.

Del Piero placed his penalty past Toldo抯 outstretched fingertips. Nicolas Andre Burdisso converted the last kick into the near top corner to give Inter the victory. The next match is between Milan and Juventus.

Inter 0-0 Juventus

Recoba Completes Torino Transfer

Uruguayan forward Alvaro Recoba has finally completed his move away from the San Siro, leaving Internazionale in favour of Torino...

Alvaro "El Chino" Recoba has signed for Torino, penning a loan deal from Internazionale.

After months of speculation, the Uruguayan has finally completed his transfer, and could slot straight into the Toro squad for this weekend's match with Reggina this weekend.

"El Chino" was out of favour at the San Siro, being fifth or sixth in the pecking order for two striker places and was faced with the possibility of a season in the stands.

He played just thirteen league games last season, scoring once, but will hope to get a once-promising career back on track in Turin.

At the age of 31, his career is drawing to a close, but most feel that he still has the talent to succeed at the top level, after being linked with clubs ranging from Atletico Madrid to Napoli over the summer.

Overall, he's been contracted to the nerazzurri since 1997, scoring 53 Serie A goals in that time. Previously, El Chino served Venezia (on loan from Inter), Nacional and Danubio.

Mancini To Adriano: Help Inter Help You

With Alvaro Recoba away to Torino, it seems that Adriano will remain at the San Siro as Internazionale's fifth striker.
The troubled Brazilian has been exiled from first team duties of late - but now that they're stuck with each other, coach Roberto Mancini has urged Adriano to retake his Emperor's throne...

Inter coach Roberto Mancini and Adriano have resigned themselves to the Brazilian's staying at the San Siro, with the manager determined to make the best of the situation.

Adriano refused to go out on loan and, with no serious buyer presenting itself, Inter are now holding on to the player until winter at least.

Even with Alvaro Recoba leaving to join Torino on loan, there are still four strikers currently ranked ahead of Adriano - but Mancini insists that L'Imperatore can find his way back in from the cold.

"We have always tried to recover Adriano, but we can only do so much. If he helps us, we will help him: Inter alone cannot make it happen," said the manager.

However, the coach would not confirm that Adriano would be a member of the team's Champions League squad.

"The Champions League is a possible eventuality, but he's more likely to find space in the [Serie A] championship," added Mancini.

A possible reason for this is that Adriano's continental value for the winter transfer window would depreciate severely if he was "cup-tied" in Europe. Perhaps, then, the saga is only over for now, and not forever.

Mancini publicly acknowledged once more that the door was open for Adriano to leave, at least on loan.

"He chose not to go on loan because he didn't see it as an ideal solution for him, so he remained, and he hopes that he'll regain his place in a hurry," concluded the Inter boss.

Ibrahimovic Brace Gets Inter Going

Empoli 0-2 Inter Milan

A brace from Zlatan Ibrahimovic saw Inter pick up their first win of the Serie A season.

Inter managed to get their season on track courtesy of a 2-0 victory away to Empoli.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the key figure for the defending champions with a goal in each half, while Francesco Toldo - who was deputising for the suspended Julio Cesar - also did his part in securing the three points.

The first goal came in the 13th minute, when Maicon's superb ball found Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and the Swede - in the right place at the right time - simply had to tap it in.

Inter failed to find that second goal for much of the game, and one worried whether it would be a repeat of the late disaster against Udinese.

Empoli refused to throw in the towel, and actually grew more and more confident with time. Indeed, they could well have been level but for some poor finishing, and some good work from Toldo.

However, with eight minutes remaining on the clock, Ibra struck again, this time breaking superbly to convert a pass from Cesar.

That just about finished the job for the Nerazzurri, who move to the top of the Serie A table, though that should change tomorrow afternoon.

im not being negative..
tapi,seriously..this inter team is hopeless..
teruk,teruk,teruk..

if it continues like this..
we are finished..
lupekan scudetto
lupekan CL
lupekan coppa italia

2 minggu lagi lwn roma..
mcm mane?
aku predict inter kena bantai 4-0 ke 5-0..
sampah..aku bosan..we are the champions of italy..but we're playing like some serie c relegation candidates..

forget roma,milan,juve,man u,arsenal,barca,real,chelsea..
we can't even compete with fenerbahce..
senang citer, judging from our recent performances,we are only capable of fighting against relegation..

go roma, take the scudetto this season..
this inter team cant do anything to stop you..

huhu..puas hati aku..
