Mangsa kemalangan kereta lawan arus meninggal dunia
SYAJARATULHUDA MOHD ROSLI | | 17 April 2021

Man who drove against traffic flow on BORR dies
By Audrey Dermawan - April 22, 2021 @ 2:39pm
BUTTERWORTH: The 43-year-old man, who drove his car against the flow of traffic before grazing an oncoming motorcycle and colliding with an oncoming car at Km13 of the Butterworth Outer Ring Road (BORR), heading towards Bagan Ajam here last Wednesday, has died.
Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the Honda City driver died about 12.30am today, about a week after the crash, while being treated at the Seberang Jaya Hospital.
This is the second death from the accident. Last Saturday, the 31-year-old female passenger of the other car, a Toyota Corolla Altis, died while being treated at the same hospital.
"At about 12.30am, we received a call from the Seberang Jaya Hospital, alerting us to the man's death.
"A post-mortem conducted revealed that he died as a result of polytrauma complicated with dessiminated intravascular coagulopathy and multi-organ failure secondary to motor vehicle accident," he said.
Noorzainy said the 35-year-old driver of the Toyota Corolla Altis was still being treated at a private hospital here and reported to be in a stable condition while his three-year-old son has been discharged.
It was reported that four people, including a family of three, were rushed to the Seberang Jaya Hospital here last Wednesday night with serious injuries following an accident involving three vehicles.
The 8.20pm incident involved two cars and a motorcycle.
Investigations revealed the crash happened when the 43-year-old driver, from Bagan Ajam heading towards Sungai Dua, was believed to have driven his car against the flow of traffic before grazing an oncoming motorcycle and colliding with an oncoming car.
The 24-year-old motorcyclist and 28-year-old pillion rider escaped unhurt.
The driver and the family of three, who sustained serious injuries due to the impact of the crash, were taken to the hospital for treatment.
The case is being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Department 1987.
