As Chinese illegal downloads heats up, Taiwan idol dramas become the household victim! While popular idol drams such as ?ilence?, ?mile Pasta?, ?b]The Hospital? ?riental Cherry Leaves? etc., are now being shown in Taiwan, a Chinese website steals copies, and really isn? legally providing downloads. The above-mentioned dramas general download rate reached millions of people, such that the Taiwanese idol dramas intellectual property rights gets the wounds, and looses money reaching up to $NT 100 million.
Using satellites to get the programs
and simultaneous release of download
On this famous file-sharing website VeryCD, provides popular movies and TV downloads but the most remarkable are the Taiwanese on-going idol dramas, where while the show was being aired, it simultaneously shows the dramas in the website for download. For example, the first 7 episodes on the previous week broadcast of ?mile Pasta? the website was able to provide downloads of these 7 episodes immediately.
This kind of illegal Chinese website download providers even uses satellites to receive the Taiwanese programs. After they got them, they drop off the advertisements and then releases it for download in the website in a complete episode. On the net users who are downloading, the download flow rate for ?riental Cherry Leaves? is remarkable--reaching up to 510,000 times?nd ?mile Pasta? reached 310,000 downloads.
Moreover, estimated losses for idol drama DVD sales of these 510,000 downloads, if sold at $100 per compact disk, will be $NT50 million. For the 4 dramas (?riental Cherry Leaves?, ?mile Pasta, ?b]The Hospital?, ?ilence? ) alone, the download reaches more than millions, so the volume of losses attained would reach a hundred million dollars.
On-line Law breakers are difficult to catch
and had to apply full force to arrest them
Not only it can provide downloads for popular dramas, but it can even pirate Variety Shows like ? love Hei Se Hui?, ?angxi Lai Le? which are also available for download as it is shown.
Regarding the Chinese download providers of pirated downloads, it also give headaches TV networks and producers. However, they all frankly said ?here? no way?. Only when it is transferred in the CD could they be able to trace the sellers. Most website applicants uses a number of people. Moreover, once arrested, they can start again with another website, and just chasing them will not get to the source, and had to use moral persuasion, so that viewers will not illegally download or buy pirated products.

The chase for The Hospital location spots brought to the Wu Fen Port treasure hunt and so the Information Office will now shoot idol dramas, make Taiwan tour packages, and promote in Korean and Japanese TV channels
To attract Japanese young tourists to come to Taiwan, the Tourism Office also prepared a "TV Wave" attack to release an F4 lead idol drama. The recent hot and famous drama "The Hospital" already attracted many Japanese girls to travel to Taiwan, and that travel agencies came up with "The Hospital Tour" to sell to Japan. Among the foreign tourists, Japanese are the biggest clients, numbering to millions who broke through last year.
Personal travel aides for Japanese young tourists are also increasing. Travel consultants at the Taipei bus station and Taipei Railway? Tour Services Center said that 2 to 30 Japanese young ladies come everyday. Earlier, young couples came to ask directions to the Taipei subway, Wu Fen Port and the LV Special Sale Shop. There were even others who asked for the filming locations of the idol drama ?he Hospital?. These tourists and the traditional tourist groups are completely different.
The Hospital was first aired last August 15. A drama staff revealed that a big group of about 300 Japanese fans specially came to Taiwan for its Preview Screening, and had also arranged for a 5-day travel tour.
According to Yang Ming Productions, in order that the Japanese fans can ?eel the place? they often go to one of the three Taipei General Hospitals entrance to have some quick snapshots as souvenir. Even if Jerry would only ?ook around for some fresh water? to be used for his concert, Japanese fans would travel far to follow it.
A travel agent said that they are in the process of planning the travel packages for ?he Hospital Tour.?
This year, the Tourism office will invest $85 million budget to hit the filming of the F4 idol drama, with about 20 to 25 episodes. It will include Taiwan? 8 biggest scenic spots and its 4 major features, to be promoted in the major Japanese and Korean TV channels.
