Individu Terkaya Di Dunia Labur Dalam Silver Mining

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/article-1273418/Carlos-Slim-dig-deep-Fresnillo.html#
MARKET REPORT: Slim to dig deep for silver minerBy Geoff Foster
Last updated at 10:36 PM on 5th May 2010

Money is no object for Carlos Slim. The Mexican telecoms and cement tycoon is the world's richest individual and worth around £35bn.
and Mexico's second laApparently, he wants to diversify into mining and so his team of top financial advisers have been busy running the slide rule over Fresnillo, the world's largest primary silver producer rgest gold producer.
Rumours that a cash bid in the region of £8.6bn or £12 a share could soon be tabled helped the shares jump 43.5p to 807p.

Fresnillo's major shareholder is Alberto Bailleres, the second richest man in Mexico and the fourth in Latin America.

He sits on 77.1pc of Fresnillo's equity and is chairman and chief executive of silver producer Penroles.

Speculation suggests that Slim and Bailleres mix in the same social circles and have been talking turkey about a possible deal for some time.

There could be a twist in the tale, though, should Slim show his hand. Word is another Footsie mining giant could step in with a counterbid.

BHP Billiton, 21p better at 1886.5p, or Rio Tinto, 27p up at 3189.5p, would like to move into the silver market and both certainly have the cash resources to swallow Fresnillo.
In the doghouse on Tuesday following the Australian government's decision to introduce a Resources Profits Tax, the mining sector could come into its own again if mouth-watering takeover activity materialises. Xstrata, said to be on 38pc shareholder Glencore International's shopping list, cheapened 9p further to 997p.

Fears that Greece's debt crisis will spread to other weak eurozone countries were heightened by news that Moody's had placed Portugal's sovereign debt on review for a possible downgrade. Sellers therefore held centre stage once again with uncertainty about the outcome of today's general election.

The mood wasn't helped by the shock news that the Prudential (9.5p down at 551.82p, after 575p) had delayed the pricing and launch of its mammoth £13.9bn rights issue to help finance its £23.5bn Asian acquisition because of the intervention of by City regulator FSA, adding to the gloom.

The Footsie followed Tuesday's nervy decline of 142 points with a further initial fall of 107 points before rallying on bear closing to finish 69.18 points lower at 5,341.93. Wall Street mirrored London's trend, retrieving 60 points of an early 83 point mark-down.
Selling ahead of today's trading statement left supermarkets group William Morrison 10.5p down to 278.8p. Marks & Spencer, which now has new chief executive Marc Bolland running the show, fell 9.6p to 351.83p. Collins Stewart remains a seller and has a target price of 320p.

The broker believes a £1bn rights issue could well be on the cards. The share buyback programme in 2008 punched a hole in the balance sheet, allowing net debt to peak at £3.1bn.

Vague takeover gossip helped asset manager Gartmore climb 5.9p to 162.5p. Giant hedge fund Man Group (9.1p off at 229.087p) has often been mentioned in the same breath. Bid speculation also accompanied a gain of 3p to 93.97p in struggling computer and video retailer Game Group.

Despite strong interim results showing a 235pc leap in pre-tax profits to £9.4m and 60pc dividend increase to 4p a share, stockbroker Numis eased a penny to 156.5p. The balance sheet is strong with cash and collateral balances of £58m.

News of strong first production figures and lower-than-expected operating cash costs helped Centamin put on 10p at 139.25p.

The company mining for gold in Egypt produced 36,621 ounces of gold in the first quarter and is still on track to produce 200,000 ounces in 2010. Global Brands, master franchisee for Domino's Pizza, added 0.95p to 2.5p in active trading following full-year results and news of a convertible loan.

Prior to after-hours' news of the management's decision to draw down yet another £100,000 of its lending facility to use as working capital, property developer Eatonfield shed 0.13p to 2.175p.

AIM-listed explorer Sunrise Diamonds sparkled at 0.75p, up 0.075p, after announcing the diversification of its project portfolio from its diamond base with an option over a gold property near Sudbury, Ontario which was the Province's largest gold producer early last century.

Mariana Resources eased 1.5p to 24.5p despite positive drill results at the Las Calandrias gold-silver discovery in the emerging Santa Cruz gold province, Argentina.

Clean Air Power firmed 1p to 20p after the developer of Dual-Fuel combustion technology announced it has received a purchase order from a leading global manufacturer of construction equipment.
• Less than two months after the £5.5m reverse takeover of water hygiene and water treatment services company, Waterchem, boss John Prowse has pulled off another good deal at Green Compliance, flat at 2.25p. He has acquired Mayfair Fire Protection for £2.392m cash. He has also agreed a £5m multicurrency revolving credit facility with HSBC to help fund further earnings enhancing deals.

tengok juga. kalau coins susah nak ikut market price as coins look nice and have numismatic value to collectors rather than silver bullion or bars. kalau nak simpan untuk investment solely je better buy bars as they have lower premium than coins. kalau nak bar saya ada 10z bars macam pic kat bawah ni saya can let go for RM1310. ni bar dari zaman hunt brothers ni kirakan macam collector's item and its minted from United states strategic silver stockpile. Tak salah saya currently united states dah takda strategic stockpile of silver anymore!

For those interested in silver canadian maples, silver american eagles, silver austrian philharmonics boleh pm saya to get a quote.

At Least 10 States Have Introduced Gold Coins-As-Currency Bills
Thursday, January 06, 2011 1:40

Jillian Rayfield
TPM

Legislators in at least ten states have introduced bills in the past few years to allow state commerce to be conducted with gold and silver.

As we reported, Georgia state Rep. Bobby Franklin (R) recently reintroduced legislation to force his state to conduct all monetary transactions with U.S. gold or silver coins -- including the payment of taxes.

The Georgia bill has a long way to go before become law -- but it's by no means the only state that's considering a future in gold. Lawmakers in Montana, Missouri, Colorado, Idaho, Indiana, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Utah, and Washington have proposed legislation, mostly in 2009, to include gold and silver in its accepted currency forms.

Constitutionaltender.com, a site dedicated to tracking and promoting these bills, explains:

The United States Constitution declares, in Article I, Section 10, "No State shall... make any Thing but gold and silver Coin a Tender in Payment of Debts". But, in fact, EVERY state in the United States of America DOES make some other "Thing" besides gold and silver coin a "Tender in Payment of Debts" -- some "Thing" called "Federal Reserve Notes." Thus the need for the "Constitutional Tender Act" -- a bill template that can be introduced in every state legislature in the nation, returning each of them to adherence to the United States Constitution's actual legal tender provisions.

Jim Rogers: I Would Rather Own Silver Than Gold
Tuesday, 04 Jan 2011 09:23 AM Article Font Size
By Forrest Jones

Silver is becoming a better investment than the one of the hottest commodities of the past few years, gold, says investment guru Jim Rogers.

Rogers, a commodities champion, says silver prices have more room to grow than do gold prices.

“I would rather own silver than gold," Rogers tells India's ET Now.

“Silver is still 40 percent below its all-time high. So silver has not been any sort of great bubble compared to perhaps some other assets we know."

Other commodities make for good investments as well, including agriculture.

“Likewise for the rice, if rice goes down, I will buy more rice. So both the silver and rice have a great future for the next few years,” Rogers says.

Precious metals tend to rally when the world's reserve currency, the dollar, weakens.

The U.S. Federal Reserve has been printing money in an effort to spur economic recovery, sending the value of the greenback down in the process.

While the dollar has erased some losses in recent trading, concerns over expansionary monetary policy on top of deficit spending in Washington are fueling inflationary fears, which has investors rosy on the outlook for precious metals, gold especially.

"The majority of factors for gold are very positive," Credit Suisse precious metals analyst Tom Kendall tells Reuters.

"If you were looking for negatives, you would have to say the lack of any sizable de-hedging program this year from the miners would be one that you could pick up on, but from the investment community, sentiment is still very much bullish towards gold."
