Belanga...NY is expensive city. Adoi...$20K tu banyak tu. Kat Austin dan sekitarnya tak berapa mahal sebab Texas ni tanah luas and bahan2 binaan dapat dari tempatsekitar. So mostly kat sini dalam US5,000 (depending on the house price and county jugak). Tapi lagi dekat dengan sekolah, highway, lagi tinggi kena bayar tax. But not as bad as NY, DC and CA. |

Tu la...bila travel ke negeri2 lain di US ni , buat kan kita fikir, what the hell are we doing in New York? Bayangkan banyak mana buleh jimat duit kalau duk di negeri yg belanja hidup murah sikit. Cukai belian pun mahal. Segala cukai mahal.
I tak duk di NY City. Duk suburb di Weschester. Tapi within easy reach to Manhattan. Hm...miss NY la..Spring, fall foliage, ballet, opera. We all ada season tickets for opera. Mak mentua punya. Dia pencen pindah Mexico, jadi tickets kasi kitorang. Sekarang kami pun tak de, kasi kawan2 je la. But, I miss opera kat Lincoln Centre |

I ni pun duduk di sipi-sipi NYC, pun terasa mahallll!! Tapi nak buat macam mana kan. Ni sekarang kiterorg terpikir nak pindah state lain. Nak beralih angin pulak.
I pun pakai EVOO, unless kalau deep frying la. suka jugak beli barang kat whole foods. Tapi macam I cakap la, kiterorg berdua kan, so takderla belanja banyak mana, so okay la kot. Rasa cuma certain things yg boleh guna coupon kiterorg guna. Kalau time shopping groceries tu, sampai 3/4 kedai pegi. sebab satu tempat khas utk daging halal, satu tempat jual barang makanan yg biasa-biasa dan barang2 macam berus gigi, ubat gigi, detergent dan satu tempat lagi fresh market. |

Gas hits national average of $4 for the first time
By ADAM SCHRECK, AP Business Writer
Sun Jun 8, 5:38 PM ET
NEW YORK - The average price of regular gas crept up to $4 a gallon for the first time over the weekend, passing the once-unthinkable milestone just in time for the peak summer travel season...
...California has seen some of the highest prices; a gallon there now averages $4.436 a gallon, the most in the country. Missourians are paying the least at the pump, with a gallon in the Show-Me State selling for a relatively cheap $3.802 a gallon...

bit, kat san diego nie...minggu lepas cheapest gas was $4.27/gallon, today $4.47/gallon...summer mungkin naik ke $6...jualan kereta hybrid for the past few months kat sini dah naik 50%, yealah kereta biasa, gas usage freeway around 32 miles/gallon, Toyota Prius (Hybrid) is 42miles/gallon...harga makanan pulak, tak terasa sangat (mungkin sebab keluarga kita cuma 3 orang aje), cuma beras naik mendadak. Dalam tempoh 4 bulan, harga beras 50kg (Jasmine rice) naik mencanak...dari $20 ke $45... |

Think gas prices are high? Try $11 in Turkey
Associated Press updated 2:03 p.m. ET June 1, 2008
PARIS - Americans are shell-shocked at $4-a-gallon gas. But consider France, where a gallon of petrol runs nearly $10. Or Turkey, where it's more than $11.

seperti yang kita cakap kat atas, keluarga kami kecil, so perbelanjaan harian tak jauh sangat berbanding sebelum harga minyak naik, beras kami beli 50kg tu boleh tahan 5-6 bulan, sayur2an dan ikan beli kat asian market yang jauh lebih murah berbanding kalau beli kat Vons atau Albertsons, necessities beli kat Costco (beli in bulk and saves money), halal meat ajelah yang agak mahal sebab beli kat halal butcher... vacation tahunan kali nie hanya in the states aje...harga ilght dah naik, airlines dah charged banyak benda, from luggages, where you seat in the plane (kalau duduk next to the window certain airlines akan charge $5) etc.... |

Fewer, pricier flights and job cuts: airlines' response to oil prices
by Thomas Urbain
Sun Jun 8, 3:02 PM ET
PARIS (AFP) - As oil prices soar, airlines are coming back down to earth with a bump -- cutting routes and capacity, ramping up prices and axing jobs as bosses freely admit the industry is in the "worst crisis since 9/11."
...At the same conference the head of Malaysia Airlines said his company would freeze recruitment and consider axing more routes as part of cost-cutting plans...
