According to a "source close to Samsung" theGalaxy Note 2 will be released next month on August 15. The news follows a rumor that surfaced several weeks ago claiming the new smartphone would be announced at a consumer electronics show held in Berlin in late August. It now appears the updated Galaxy Note, dubbed a "phablet," will hit stores eve sooner.

The news was first reported by tech blog BGR, who say Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 2 at a press conference planned for August 15. The device is expected to boast a massive 5.5-inch screen, slightly larger than the original 5.3-inch model. The updated version will also reportedly be thinner.

Samsung sent out a press release last week revealing to the media that the Korean company will announce a "major" new Galaxy device on August 15. However, the note did not specify what the device will be, or whether it will even be a new smartphone as opposed to a tablet device.

Other changes to the Galaxy Note include a screen with 720p resolution (1280 x 720), according toRedmond Pie. This is actually a step down from the original Galaxy Note's 1280 x 800 resolution. Recent rumors also suggest that the Galaxy Note 2 will sports a powerful quad-core Exynos processor and operate on Android Jelly Bean 4.1, Google latest mobile OS.

The Galaxy Note 2 may also feature an improved camera with as many as 12 or 13 megapixels. The current Galaxy Note's camera features just 8 megapixels.

According to tech-blog Redmond Pie, an anonymous inside source claims that the Galaxy Note 2 will feature a groundbreaking Unbreakable Plane Display (UBP) screen. The new screen technology can take more abuse than any other screen without cracking. The UBP may turn out to be the first step towards flexible smartphone screens since the technology's unmatched strength and resilience can withstand significant pressure.

"Samsung Sets August 29 for an Unpacked Event That Promises Something “Magical”

Mark your calendars people because Samsung has started sending out invites for an Unpacked event set to happen on August 29 at IFA, the world’s leading consumer electronics and home appliances trade show in Berlin, Germany. The event is scheduled to start at 1900hrs Berlin time which is 0100hrs Malaysia time. Typical to Samsung Unpacked events, we’re expecting a live feed that accessible to the public.

The invite doesn’t say much aside from the date, time and venue of the event, but there is a rather obvious clue that suggest we should expect a device that comes with a stylus (the magic wand sure looks like a stylus) and the device that is in everyone’s mind right now is the Galaxy Note II.

Of course we could be all wrong and Samsung could just be messing with us but then again why would they do that? There is a possibility of Samsung launching another tablet but then again don’t they have enough already? What about the Galaxy Note 10.1? It might make an appearance at the event but it won’t be the star attraction because there’s very little about the Note 10.1 that we don’t already know about and very little else that Samsung has not revealed. Then, there’s the slight chance of it being a totally new smartphone altogether but you’ll agree that Samsung already has too much of that as well.

So will we see that Galaxy Note II this month? We can’t say for certain but it sure does look like it.

Frankly speaking....sila tunggu Note II....Screen Besar 5.5" tanggung pueh hati...SIII hanya 4.8" dan kurasakan agak kecik ....walaupun beza Note dgn SIII hanya 0.5"...tp mmg ada perbezaanya...inikan plak Note II yg skrinnya 5.5"..cuma dr kepuasan speed..SIII maish dihadapan.....tp dgn note II..yg dijangka akan menggunakan Quad Core processor dan RAM lebey tinggi...nahhhhhhhh...apa lagi....expented launching pd 29 August ini....dan expected in Malaysia Market pd bulan September atau Oct....sila tunggu ..

SIII ni yg bestnyer adalah kelancaran processor dan kameranya ......Kamera pd SIII adalah 8mp ..sama mcm Note..tp aku rs kualiti gambar SIII ada lebey skit cantik banding note....Kualiti skrin ( Corning glass 2 ) adalah terbaikkkkkkkk....

We can pretty much put all the speculation aside now as Reuters has confirmed that the August 29Samsung Unpacked event in Berlin will be for the Galaxy Note II, a Samsung spokesman said.

The final quarter of this year is looking to be a very interesting time for gadget junkies as Apple is also expected to release its new iPhone about two weeks after the new Galaxy Note makes its debut. And looking how things pan out both of these devices could be in Malaysia by December.

Rumour has it that the new Galaxy Note may feature an unbreakable, 5.5-inch display – slightly larger than the current one – as well as a faster processor and a much better camera. We’re expecting Samsung to port carry over much of the “smart features” first seen in the Galaxy S III as well as its quad-core processor (perhaps with a faster clock speed) and more RAM. Expect two colours to be available at launch, similar to the Galaxy S III.

We know a lot of people who will be standing in line for this one. What are your thoughts?
