Indonesian officials report gastroenteritis outbreak in Bali, April 1. Observe food and water precautions.

This alert began 31 Mar 2008 12:25 GMT and is scheduled to expire 20 Apr 2008 23:59 GMT.
Current Situation
Health authorities in Indonesia April 1 are reporting a gastroenteritis outbreak that has killed four people and sickened hundreds of others in eastern Bali. The most affected areas are the districts of Selat, Babandem, Sidemen and Karangasem. Initial tests have revealed that E. coli is the cause of the outbreak, however further testing is underway.
Background
Escherichia coli (E. coli) infection is a common cause of diarrhea worldwide. The illness is usually transmitted through contaminated food and water. It is characterized by abdominal pain and diarrhea, which often contains blood. Persons who are younger than 5-years-old, elderly or immunocompromised are at greatest risk.
Advice
Drink only boiled or bottled water with untampered seals. Eat in well-established, clean restaurants and eat only well-cooked food served hot. Avoid salads, raw seafood and buffets. |

tak tau la aku pasal sembahyang2 ni. Tp yg aku perasan depa ni mmg kuat sembahyang, kat tengah2 simpang pun ade org sembahyang. Depa byk habis duit utk upacara2 keagamaan.
Tp bagi aku tarikan utama bali sbb diaorg punye hospitality mmg first class. Dah byk2 negara aku travel aku rasa org2 bali ni mmg betul2 jaga diaorg punye tourism industry, sbb ye la, main profit diaorg pun kat tourism je kan. Kalu tourist tak dtg, mmg susah diaorg nak cari mkn. |
