Daily Mail: Reds linked with Lazio star

Lazio are ready to cash in on Brazil midfielder Hernanes amid strong interest from the Barclays Premier League.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool scouts have all watched the versatile 26-year-old, who is ready to move at the end of the season.

Hernanes impressed after joining the Italians from Sao Paulo for £11.2million two years ago, but Lazio boss Edy Reja is prepared to sacrifice him because he is too similar to in-form Italy international Stefano Mauri.

Hernanes, with eight goals in 29 Serie A appearances this season, has grown frustrated at being substituted in 20 of his 26 starts.

Lazio, however, have indicated that they want at least £16m for him.

Hernanes has grown as a player since leaving Brazil and is seen as having similar characteristics to Cesc Fabregas that would suit the English game.

He has usually been used as a playmaker at Lazio, but operated deeper at Sao Paulo, showing energy and quality as a box-to-box midfielder.

Pics: Derbies at Wembley 1984

As Liverpool and Everton prepare to face each other in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend, we take a pictorial look back at our previous meetings with the Blues at Wembley.

We start back in 1984 when Merseyside desceded upon London for the League Cup final.

However, Wembley's first ever Reds versus Blues meeting ended goalless, meaning the final needed to be settled by a replay at Maine Road just three days later.

Graeme Souness's first-half strike was enough to secure a 1-0 win for Liverpool en route to a treble of League, League Cup and European Cup under the stewardship of Joe Fagan.

Liverpool Plot Move for Atletico Madrid Goal Machine Radamel Falcao

Anfield side look to improve their attacking options following a poor season in front of goal. Kenny Dalglish keen on La Liga talent.

Liverpool are eyeing up Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao as Kenny Dalglish looks to beef up his attacking options. The Merseyside club have scouted Colombian international on a number of occasions this season and are ready to make an offer for the 26 year old this summer.

The former FC Porto man has taken to life in La Liga instantly, notching up 28 goals in all competitions in his first season at the Vicente Calderon. Falcao had been hugely impressive during his time in Portugal, culminating in a 2010/11 campaign that saw the former River Plate man scoring 38 goals as Andre Villas-Boas’s side completed the domestic double and won the Europa League.

Atletico Madrid paid £33m for the striker last summer but a Liverpool move for the goal machine may well prove realistic as Diego Simeone’s side have struggled this term and currently sit in ninth spot and could end up failing to qualify for any European competition that may leave the club needing to balance the books, though they are unlikely to accept any offer under what they paid for the striker.

Though Luis Suarez has proved a success at Anfield, £35m man Andy Carroll has failed to make an impact and has not gelled with the Uruguayan, leaving Kenny Dalglish having to consider moves to add firepower to a side that have managed just 40 goals in Premier League action this term and to put that figure into context, that’s fewer than relegation battlers Blackburn Rovers have managed this term.

Dalglish will look to Liverpool’s American owners to once again back him in the transfer market this summer and will look to resolve the striking area, which he feels is the biggest obstacle to progress. Though he has been handed over £120m to spend on new players over the past 18 months he can at least defend that spend by the fact that the club has sold players to the tune of over £75m in the same period with the likes of Fernando Torres, Raul Meireles and Ryan Babel being offloaded.

Liverpool will look to further cash in this summer with the sales of loaned out pair Alberto Aquilani and Joe Cole, among others.

Liverpool In Talks to Complete Ambitious Deal to Sign Barcelona Striker David Villa

Anfield side keen on Spanish international hotshot. Kenny Dalglish looks to improve his attacking options as he makes ambitious plans to land Barcelona star.

Liverpool and Juventus are monitoring David Villa’s situation at Barcelona.

The experienced striker is currently recovering from knee surgery and hopes to be back in time to make Spain’s Euros squad this summer.

Cadena Ser says Juve and Liverpool have already been in contact with Villa’s camp and will watch closely his recovery with the view to making offers for the striker this summer.

Liverpool could well do with alternative attacking options and though a move for Barcelona striker David Villa doesn’t conform to the Anfield club’s push for a more youthful transfer policy the Spanish international is clearly the type of player who is worth trying to bring in.

The 30 year old forward has been out with a lengthy injury and was not in the best of form prior to being sidelined and even though the former Valencia man is not the same player he was in his pomp he could still be a very useful signing who Kenny Dalglish would no doubt consider as a strike partner for Luis Suarez.

Villa notched up 129 goals in 212 games for Valencia before his move to the Nou Camp in the summer of 2010 and though considered as something of a failure at the Catalan club the Spanish national team record goalscorer has still managed a very healthy total of 32 goals from 76 appearances.

With Andy Carroll failing to make an impact and with Dirk Kuyt and Craig Bellamy arguably working better in wide roles a move for Villa would be a wise one to consider though perhaps he would opt for a move to Juventus given there rise to prominence this term.

Feyenoord coach Koeman would welcome back Liverpool's Kuyt

Feyenoord coach Ronald Koeman insists he's had no contact with Liverpool attacker Dirk Kuyt.

Koeman admits he'd love to bring Kuyt back to the club, but denies claims of texting the experienced striker about the prospect.

"I've never sent a text message. As coach of Feyenoord, I naturally hope that he once again wears the Feyenoord shirt, but I cannot do anymore," said Koeman.

"I'll focus only on the remainder of this season. But it seems logical to me that Kuyt would always be welcome here. He would add value to this team. "

Tugas sukar Liverpool, Spurs

PENGURUS Liverpool, Kenny Dalglish (kiri) dan pengendali Everton, Moyes bakal menjadi tumpuan malam esok.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Liverpool bakal beraksi tanpa dua penjaga gol utama, Pepe Reina dan Alexander Doni selepas masing-masing digantung perlawanan kerana mengutip kad merah.

Situasi ini dianggap sebagai cabaran yang cukup besar buat skuad The Reds dalam misi memburu trofi kedua selepas muncul juara Piala Liga, Februari lalu.

Liverpool terpaksa mempertaruhkan khidmat penjaga gol ketiga, Brad Jones manakala penjaga gol skuad remaja, Tyrell Bedford, 17, menjadi pemain simpanan.

- Reuters

Liverpool Keen on Bringing Mexican Winger To Anfield

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish looks set for another Summer of big spending, with one of his primary targets being the highly-rated Hector Herrera.

Liverpool are interested in signing highly-rated Hector Herrera during the summer transfer window, and the young Mexican has been tipped to forge a successful career in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old currently plies his trade with Pachuca, and played a prominent role in ensuring Mexico qualified for this summer’s Olympic Games in London.

It has been reported that the Anfield club have already approached Mexican side Pachuca but are yet to formalise their interest. The South American outfit finished fifth in last year’s domestic league, and Chief Executive Andres Fassi has been quoted saying:

“At the moment, we know that Liverpool is interested. But that’s all it is at this point, an interest,” he told ESPN.

Fassi also believes that Herrera has all the attributes to be a hit in English football, should he seal an eventual move to Liverpool. The young winger can play on either flank and was an integral part of the u23 Olympic qualifying campaign. His high levels of work rate, combined with his skill could make him a fantastic addition to Dalglish’s squad.

“If Herrera leaves, it will be thanks to a sale. We will not loan him out or send him for a trial,” added Fassi.

“Herrera can surely be one of the Premier League’s best players in two or three seasons. He’s that good.”

Liverpool have endured one of their worst ever Premier League seasons, with the likes of Andy Carrol, Jordan Henderson and Stuart Downing all failing to live up to their price tag.

It is likely that the Anfield manager will now look at selling some of his bigger names, with the likes of Andy Carrol and Dirk Kuyt being rumored to leave. The sale of the two players could release the funds needed to finalise the purchase of Herrera.
