Man City vs West Ham Team News

Roque Santa Cruz could make his Manchester City debut in Monday's encounter with West Ham at Eastlands.

The Paraguay international has been consigned to the sidelines since his £17million summer move from Blackburn after a knee operation. However, he came through a reserve team clash with Wrexham unscathed on Wednesday and should be on the bench for the Blues.

Michael Johnson played in the same game and is also available after abdominal trouble, while Stephen Ireland will be assessed by City's medical staff after he was released from hospital on Thursday morning after being admitted complaining of dizziness.

Striker Guillermo Franco could make his debut for West Ham at Eastlands.

Zola is hopeful that England defender Matthew Upson will have recovered from a calf injury while Luis Jimenez is also back in training after nursing a thigh strain.

Midfielder Valon Behrami, however, is doubtful with a back injury he suffered in last week's defeat against Liverpool.

Man City vs West Ham: Player Ratings
Manchester City

Shay Given - 6.5

One of the best stoppers in the English top flight, Given is fast becoming a Man City legend with his prescence in between the sticks.

Pablo Zabaleta - 6

Was an able deputy for Micach Richards but could do with more overlapping runs to join in the attack. Otherwise, had a solid outing.

Kolo Toure - 7

The City captain marshalled his troops with consumate ease. His reading and tackling was one of the reasons City managed to keep lone striker, Cole quiet for most of the 90 minutes.

Joleon Lescott - 6

Clearly the lesser of the two central defenders, Lescott seems to be happy letting Toure lead at the back. Nevertheless, the duo have formed a good understanding in the short time together.

Wayne Bridge - 6

With Ashley Cole in the form of his life at Chelsea, Bridge will need to put in man-of-the-match performances week in week out if he wants to make it to South Africa. Quiet game from the England international.

Shaun Wright-Phillips - 5

Ian Wright's son is never short of pace but he needs to keep going for the full 90 minutes. Drifted in and out of the game and was ineffective for the home team.

Nigel de Jong - 6

The midfield general looked comfortable in his tussle with Noble and Parker in the middle of the park.

Gareth Barry - 7

Mark Hughes clearly values the England midfielder's range of passing as he demonstrated against a flat Hammers backline.

Martin Petrov - 8

The Bulgarian winger got a rare start and made full use of it with a stinging free-kick into the bottom left corner.

Carlos Tevez - 10

The former Red Devil has been leading by example all season with his hardworking style of play. His goals were all down to his tireless running. What a player!

Craig Bellamy - 7.5

Unlucky not to get on the scoresheet but was a constant menace to the visitors' defence.

Substitutes

Roque Santa Cruz - 7

The reason for his rating is the fact that a healthy Santa Cruz will provide City with an added dimension in future games.

Michael Johnson - 5

Not enough time to make an impact but good to see him back from injury.

West Ham

Robert Green - 6.5

Still a suspect figure when it comes to commanding his defenders. Needs to be more vocal and dominant.

Julien Faubert - 6

A winger put into a wing-back role. Never quite worked out for the Real Madrid flop.

Manuel Da Costa - 6

Tried his best to do well for the visitors but was often caught out by Tevez.

James Tomkins - 6.5

His inexperience showed up as the Hammers clearly missed Matthew Upson's presence in defence.

Herita Illunga - 7

His overlapping runs has been one of the few positives for Gianfranco Zola's team this season.

Alessandro Diamanti - 6

The Italian was full of energy but was too eager to make an impact. Needs to keep things simple before anything else.

Radoslav Kovac - 5

Strong in the tackle but was outplayed by De Jong and Barry.

Scott Parker - 7

Parker will soon come to realise that he deserves to be playing at a bigger club. Let down by his teammates and more often than not had to do it on his own.

Mark Noble - 6.5

The youngster is a solid midfielder blessed with a good footballing brain. Needs to make full use of his shooting chances when the opportunity arises.

Luis Jimenez - 5

Was he even on the field?

Carlton Cole - 7.5

Continued his good form and found the back of the net with a lucky back-heel.

Substitutes

Zavon Hines - 5

No impact at all by the tricky winger. Zola should have thrown him in from the start.

Junior Stanislav - 5

Came on with his head down like all of his teammates.
