Curi Mesin Pesawat, Seorang Jenderal Dipecat (AU MALAYSIA)

Diungkap, Pencurian Mesin Jet Tempur Malaysia. Dijual di Pasar Gelap!

Diungkap, Pencurian Mesin Jet Tempur Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR - Departemen Pertahanan Malaysia berang.

Berita hilangnya mesin pesawat tempur itu baru mencuat akhir pekan lalu setelah dilaporkan harian berbahasa Inggris The New Straits Times

KUALA LUMPUR (March 15, 2012): Global defence and security firm BAE Systems is working to link small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the United Kingdom with their counterparts here on possible partnership or sharing of expertise and experience.

The areas of cooperation include maintenance, repair and overhaul, aerospace, and manufacturing of aircraft components.

"We will try to connect the Malaysian SMEs with the British SMEs and hopefully some good business will arise as a result of our effort," its managing director for Southeast Asia John Brosnan told a media briefing on BAE Systems industrial participation in Malaysia yesterday.

Last November, he said BAE Systems in collaboration with SME Corp Malaysia hosted a business opportunities and networking session with local SMEs.

"We will have another session with the UK SMEs in London next week. One hundred SMEs have confirmed their attendance. It will be a collaborative effort between BAE Systems and the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) and the Malaysia Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT)," he said, adding that the briefing is to provide information on the opportunities available in Malaysia.

BAE Systems which has been in the country for more than 20 years delivers a full array of products and services for air, land and naval forces.

On the fighter deal with Malaysia, Brosnan said BAE Systems has already submitted an outline proposal to the Ministry of Defence. The proposal and the aircraft, Eurofighter Typhoon have been evaluated, he said, adding that the next phase is for the detailed specification.

"We are very confident that we have the best aircraft and industrial packages. We are also in talks with potential industrial partners in Malaysia on how we can work with them," he said.

"Absolutely, they have flown it. We have two Typhoon aircraft at the LIMA Air Show in Langkawi, Kedah last year and the Malaysian air force (personnel) in UK flying the Typhoon as part of the evaluation. I think they are very interested. We are estimating 18 aircraft. We believe there is requirement for combat aircraft. Typoon is a combat fighter aircraft," he added.

Japan Begins Building Technology Demonstrator Fighter

TOKYO — Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) announced it has begun assembly of a full-scale, structural-testing model of the prototype Advanced Technology Demonstrator ATD-X fighter, also called Shinshin, ahead of the prototype’s first flight scheduled in 2014.

Shinshin is being developed by the Japanese Defense Ministry’s Technical Research and Development Institute and MHI as a domestically produced, fifth-generation fighter to replace Japan’s fleet of some 49 Mitsubishi F-2 and 135 Mitsubishi F-15 fighters later in the decade. It would be an alternative to, or would supplement, the nation’s planned buy of Lockheed Martin’s F-35 stealth fighters.

In December, in a contentious decision, the MoD decided to purchase 42 F-35s to replace the 1960s-era Mitsubishi F-4EJ Kai Phantoms starting in 2016 at a cost of $114 million per jet. But the deal quickly fell into difficulties this February, when international concerns reached Japan about the ability of the U.S. to lower F-35 costs. The issue arose after the Pentagon’s January decision to delay purchase of 179 F-35s, leading to publicly aired demands by Japanese Defense Minister Naoki Tanaka to the U.S. not to raise prices.

The origins of the Shinshin lay in Japan’s long-held desire to purchase Lockheed F-22 Raptors, but that was stymied when the U.S. Congress banned export of the fighter, leading Japan to buy the F-35 and develop its own alternative.

The project was launched in 2009 amid concerns about the technological progress made by the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. China rolled out its Chengdu J-20 in January 2011, and the fifth-generation fighter is expected to go into service as early as 2017.

MHI said assembly of the full-scale static structural test model of the ATD-X is on track to produce a flight test model of the Shinshin, which expected to make its first flight in 2014. Project completion is slated for the end of March 2017.

Shinshin will feature a number of advanced technologies, including 3-D thrust-vectoring capability, a fly-by-optics flight control system, an active electronically scanned array radar, electronic countermeasures and possibly microwave weapon functions.

Kalau Malaysia join jepun buat shinshin ni pun ok juga.

Replacement For MiG-29N Fighter Jet In Evaluation Stage

KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 (Bernama) -- The Defence Ministry is evaluating the offers made by several aircraft manufacturing companies in response to its plan to replace the MiG-29N jet fighters for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF).

Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the ministry was looking into the capability and specifications of the aircraft manufactured by the companies concerned.

He said the ministry was also looking into the package offered by the companies, including the reciprocal offer by the manufacturing companies, such as technology transfer and payment duration.

No decision had been made yet, he told reporters at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) exhibition at the Putra World Trade Center here today.

Since 2009, the government had been considering to replace the Russian-made MiG-29N with the multi-role combat aircraft from other manufacturers, including the Eurofighter Typhoon.

Currently, the Typhoon aircraft, measuring 15.96 metre in length and capable of flying more than 60,000 feet, is used by the air force in Britain, Italy, Austria, Spain and Germany.

Malaysia bought its 18 MiG-29N aircraft in June 1994 for US$380 million(RM1.3 billion).
