SMAP's Kusanagi Tsuyoshi and Hirosue Ryoko are acting in the TV Asahi drama SP, "Ai to Shi wo Mitsumete" (Looking at love and death)" ever since the movie version was made 42 years ago. The story is based on a real-life novel by Kawano Minoru about a senior high school girl, Michiko (Miko) who contracted a terminal illness and the 400-plus letters she and her boyfriend Minoru (Mako) attending university wrote to each other over 3 years. Miko died at the age of 21 subsequently. The novel was made into a drama version by TBS followed by the hit movie 42 years ago. This also made Michiko's diary, "Wakaki Inochi no Niki" bestseller. Filming for this drama SP will begin in the middle of this month.

SMAP will be releasing their 39th single, "Dear WOMAN" on 19 April which is meant to be an encouragement song for all women in Japan. This song will also be the CM theme for Shiseido's TSUBAKI haircare products CM which stars Uehara Takako, Takeuchi Yuko, Tanaka Rena, Nakama Yukie, Hirosue Ryoko and Mizuki Arisa. The CM will be shown on TV from the beginning of April and this is the first time that a song from SMAP is used by Shiseido.
