MATERAZZI EARNS INTER POINT IN ROME

ROME - Marco Materazzi scored a last-gasp equaliser to cancel out Taddei's first-half opener as Inter brought Roma's record-breaking run of 11 consecutive Serie A victories to an end with a gritty 1-1 draw in Sunday evening's thrilling Week 28 clash at the Stadio Olimpico.
For his 100th competitive match in charge of Inter, Roberto Mancini started with Cruz and Recoba up front, with Cambiasso and Pizarro flanked by Stankovic and Kily in midfield. Francesco Toldo continued in goal behind a back four of Javier Zanetti, Cordoba, Materazzi and Wome.
After a stunning long-range drive by Recoba which forced a good save from Giallorossi custodian Doni, Roma took the lead in the ninth minute when A.Mancini met a long pass, entered the Inter area then took on Materazzi before playing through Wome's legs for Rodrigo Taddei to slot into an open goal at the far post.
Ten minutes before half time Mancini replaced Kily Gonz醠ez with Luis Figo , with Dejan Stankovic switching to the left flank, from where the move for Inter's best chance of a first-half reply started. The Serb, playing his 200th Serie A match, passed to Cruz then the Argentine striker played back to compatriot Cambiasso whose 20-yard volley was pushed round by Doni.
Inter came out the stronger side in the second half, with Recoba's fierce diagonal shot deflected out before Dejan Stankovic's long-range drive flew inches over the Roma bar. Pierre Wome then went close with a back-post header which was cleared on the line by De Rossi. The Giallorossi were limited to counter-attacks and chances from free kicks but failed to capitalise as A.Mancini and Chivu both sent shots wide.
Roberto Mancini threw on Martins for Cruz - who made his 100th Inter appearance at the Olimpico - and Cesar for Pizarro as Inter continued to enjoy the run of play. The Nerazzurri's efforts paid off in the 89th minute when Materazzi crashed in a header from a Figo cross to bring a hard-earned point back to Milan.

On the 22 February 2006 in the UEFA Champions League, a dramatic comeback by Inter Milan earned a 2-2 draw at the Amsterdam Arena after hosts Ajax had dominated the first half of this first-leg encounter. A wonderful header from Huntelaar had put Ajax into a 16th-minute lead and Mauro Rosales scored a second four minutes later as the Dutch side looked to be crusing. However, goals from Dejan Stankovic and Julio Cruz redressed the balance for the Italians. |

roma mmg tough..i love the way the play football at the moment..effective and entertaining..they defend in numbers..and they attack in numbers..so dangerous on counter attacks..team work diorang pun mmg tinggi..aku rasa this roma team can beat any team in the world right now..even barca or chelsea..

hmm..persembahan di olimpico ari tuh agak mengecewakan..mmg kita struggle dgn corak permainan roma yg cun dan efektif tuh..dan kita banyak buat kesilapan yg tak sepatutnya..el capitano banyak buat silap!!wut the hell??dan gol taddei tuh sememangnya berpunca dari kesilapan matrix..outmuscled by mancini..luckily he did well to redeem himself by scoring the equaliser at the critical moment..sekaligus menamatkan rekod 11 kemenangan berturut-turut roma..

pasal share stadium dan kedua2 team juara kumpulan..kena la main away dulu...sudahnya dua kat home utk 2nd leg...tapi ok la tu..senang nak tgk live...hehe..mcm lokomotiv moscow punya game dulu mesti ada live kalo dia main home..kalo tak kena la tunggu lwn blackpool ke,stoke city ke tak pun ipswich baru la ada live... |

CL Preview: Inter-Ajax
The winner of this second round match will face Villareal in the quarter finals.
BACKGROUND With both teams far off from the top spot in their respective leagues, Inter and Ajax抯 main objective this season lies in the coveted Champions League trophy. The Nerazzurri, more than the Dutch side, cannot risk of being eliminated at this stage of the competition, especially since they play this second leg in front of their demanding fans.
This will actually be the first time this season that the Inter fans will be able to assist to a Champions League match at San Siro, as the Nerazzurri had to play the previous four home encounters in front of an empty stadium due to the ban imposed by Uefa following the disorders which occurred in last season抯 Champions League match against rivals Milan.
The home fans will surely be a major boost for an Inter side which after losing yet another Scudetto will need to focus all attention on this cup. And in this second leg, the Italians start off as hot favourites to go through thanks to the 2-2 achieved in Amsterdam, but more importantly thanks to the superior technical level Roberto Mancini's side has.
TEAM NEWS
Inter
Roberto Mancini will be without the suspended Ivan Cordoba, while Juan Sebastian Veron, Alvaro Recoba and Luis Figo will face a late fitness test.
Ajax
The Dutch side my play without Hedwiges Maduro, Steven Pienaar and Johnny Heitinga who are all still injured, but Blind will welcome back Nourdin Boukhari.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Adriano (Inter)
The emperor is back, or so will the Inter fans hope. After last Saturday抯 league goal against Sampdoria, the Brazilian striker will be fully motivated to score more goals and prove his critics wrong. At his best, Adriano is unstoppable, so Ajax will be hoping that this past weekend's goal was just a flash in the pan.
Huntelaar (Ajax)
The former Feyenoord striker has done quite well since joining Ajax and will want to impress and have his name recognized throughout Europe in a bid to attract the interest of big teams. This is his chance to shine and become a household name in European competitions.

PREDICTION
Inter were favourites to easily beat Ajax even in Amsterdam, but then the outcome of the game proved most critics wrong. Same story here, but this time the Nerazzurri should get the job done and qualify for the quarter finals without too much worry.
