SUNIEL SHETTY LAUCHES CARDS & CALENDARS

ITC Ltd, tied up with an SOS Children's Villages of India, NGO to launch 82 new card designs, 13 assorted boxes and five desktop calendars.

President SOS, India J. N Kaul said the NGO has an array of donors because of the services they render and transparent accounts.

Kaul added they focus on providing home and not an orphanage to the children where they get a mother, brothers, and sisters to get along with.

Actor Suniel Shetty launched the range which was created by renowned artistes, designers, and photographers.

At present SOS have 37 villages and 122 allied centres in the country, touching the lives of over 200,000 children.

Esha, Aftab in Vikram Bhatt's Akhir

It's got to be the biggest musical shuffle of the season. Vikram Bhatt had announced a project Aakhir, apparently based on a tumultuous phase of his life, to be produced by Shraddha Pagare of Celeste Moi.

But overnight, the film went into Pritish Nandy's hands and now, it is about to roll on September 12 though with a different cast. Sanjay Suri, who was supposed to play Bhatt's alter ego, has been replaced by Aftab Shivdasani.

Busy with the release of his new film Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina, Nandy took time off to explain, "I was in for Sanjay Suri in the cast. However, I left the final casting decisions to Vikram."

More surprising than the ouster of Suri in favour of Shivdasani is the inclusion of Esha Deol in the place of Bengali actress Rituparna Sengupta in the mercurial Other Woman's role.

"It will be a wonderful opportunity for Esha to grow as an actress. I liked her work in Harry Baweja's Main Aisa Hi Hoon. She has an untamed quality needed for the female protagonist's role in Aakhir. Besides, she shared a close friendship with Aftab in the past. That would bring certain amount of fascinating frisson."

Incidentally, Esha is doing another film for Pritish Nandy, to be directed by Meghna Gulzar. Titled Honeymoon, it costars Fardeen Khan.

The third angle of Bhatt's volatile triangle is bound to raise eyebrows. The director's close friend and companion Amisha Patel has been penciled in to play the wife's part in place of Divya Dutta.

Saif claims he is reconciling

Saif Ali Khan has neither denied nor confirmed the report of his break up with his wife Amrita Singh. However, he says, "I don't know how such a personal thing became public." Saif added that he has been upset by this leak by his friends. When asked if he was trying to reconcile with Amrita, he said Yes. "I am trying to sort out everything. We will get back." He refuses to comment on his affair with any other woman. There is a report in the industry that Saif is trying to reconcile with Amrita Singh though the latter has not yet commented on Saif's reconcillation move.

Vivek no more asks 'Kyun Ho Gaya Na'

Success and failure follow in everyone's life. But in the tinsel world, success or failure of any actor or actress is measure from the success of his or her movie. Nowadays, the Ramu camp's launched star Vivek Oberoi is not having a very comfortable time. His 'Kyun Ho Gaya Naa', which had come after a little long gap, hasn't got appreciation from the audience. Boney Kapoor's film despite Vivek Oberoi and Aishwayra Rai has not hit the box office though both Vivek and Aishwarya did their best for the promotion of this film. They visited almost all big cities, but in vain. This film's failure has also created a gap between these two friends. Now, Bony Kapoor has canceled his future project in which had planned to take this pair. The situation has turned so bad that Aish is not receiving Vivek's calls. Recently, Aish avoided Vivek at a party. She has been to a party with her father, but left the place as soon as she spotted Vivek there!

Aish turns to politics

Everything is possible in glamour world. According to a Hindi daily's report the former Miss World Aishwarya Rai could soon hit the silver screen in the role of the Chief Minister of Bihar, Rabri Devi, in a film of a noted filmmaker. The Hindi daily Prabhat Khabar says that the internationally acclaimed filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi is planning to make a film titled 'Sinhasan' on Rabri Devi. "The main role of Rabri Devi will be played by none other than Aishwarya Rai", adds the Hindi daily.

SUNIEL SHETTY ALLERGIC TO 'R'

Suniel Shetty has been found disturbed following the failure of his three movies in a row during the last two years. Though he took great risk in doing the stunt scenes himself in these films. Suniel Shetty has discovered that the titles of his movies beginning with alphabet 'R' do not favor him. His latest three releases like 'Rakshak', 'Rudraksh' and 'Rakth' have fallen flat at box office. As a result the distributors and the exhibitors have suffered heavy losses.

Suniel Shetty is shocked that even 'Rakth', which had several top stars in the cast, has not found favor with the audience. That's is the reason why he has not released his forthcoming movie 'Radhey Shyam Sita Ram' that is already lying canned with him. Since this movie's title also begins with alphabet 'R', he is not likely to release it in the near future. Suniel Shetty seems to be have become allergic to 'R'. Recently, he advised a filmmaker whose movie is ready for release to change the title of his movie as it began with alphabet 'R'.

Esha Deol is seen in a bikni in her latest movie 'Dhoom'. This has put the screen on fire, and made even the exhibitors excited, what to talk of distributors. This is significant, as Esha Deol had been saying no to enact bold and sexy scenes in films. Her bikni shots in 'Dhoom' have annoyed her two star brothers, who presumably did not like her sister appear in a bikni on the silver screen. In fact, both Sunny and Bobby Deol are reported to have vehemently criticized her for her 'Dhoom' shots. When the media asked her about this bikni scene, she quipped, "I got a green signal from my mom to wear a bikni in 'Dhoom'".

Priyanka makes Arjun blush

Nowadays women are not only equal to men but are ahead of them. This has been witnessed recently during the shooting of 'Asambahv'. Its heroin Priyanka Chopra went to the extent of excelling the Macho Man Arjun Ramphal in adventures sports or stunts like air diving and bunzy jumping. During its overseas shoot, Priyanka resorted to both the adventure sports. However, it made Arjun blush. She was heard saying that Arjun might have tried to copy her in these sports. Besides, she amused all those present in the corridors of the overseas hotel during the shot by her dance wearing a payal. The local occupants were taken aback by her dance, and confined themselves to their room until she stopped her dance.

MANISHA FAILS TO PLAY HER DREAM ROLE

Manisha Koirala may not succeed in playing her dream role of Indira Gandhi. There are many stories taking rounds about it. According to some industry sources, the movie has not been launched for the same reason as was in the case of 'The Great Ashoka'. You may recall that the producer of 'The Great Ashoka' O.P. Ralhan was reported to have refused to launch it because he could not find a suitable person to play the lead role. Similarly, Nitin, the producer of 'Indira Gandhi' is said to have got no suitable person, including Manisha, to play the late Prime Minister.

The other story is that the movie was estimated to cast Rs 250 million whereas a fan of Late Mrs Indira Gandhi offered only Rs 200 million. Director N Chandra found it impossible to make this historical movie within this amount. In fact, the fan happened to be a Congress stalwart who would not like to take the risk now, as it is no more considered to be a commercially viable proposition. There are also rumors that the Congress party did not find in Manisha Koirala a suitable actor to play Indira Gandhi. Anyway, the movie is off and so is Manisha Koirala's cherished desire of playing the role of Indira Gandhi.

For someone who's very particular about his possessions, Ajay Devgan has acquired his own vanity van.

Keeping in mind his hectic shooting schedules, Devgan waited this long so he could get the best van among his fraternity. The beige van, where Devgan spends most of his time away from home, has very spacious interiors.

Comfort being the key factor, there's a settee for a rare siesta, besides a two seater couch. A single table-chair set for the actor and a leather beanbag to seat an extra visitor.

The actor remains connected with world news via a wide-screen television offering him a choice of 130 channels. He also has this hi-fi music system. Even the washroom is spacious and fitted with extravagant accessories. The piece de resistance, feels Devgan, is that the water-tank installed is about twice the capacity of other vanity vans.

Ever since his new acquisition, Devgan has co-stars and visitors from the fraternity dropping in to have a dekko at his new toy.

Karisma Kapoor's marriage blues are affecting Abhishek Bachchan too. While the two may have parted ways long ago, that doesn't stop Small B from feeling sorry for his former ladylove.

"I am extremely hurt because of the recent developments in Karisma's life. Although I am in no position to point fingers or say who's responsible for the whole mess, I do feel sorry for the fact that Karisma is going through such an upheaval and having a tough time.

"I know she's going through a lot of mental stress because of her marital discord. I can only pray to God that she gets some peace of mind soon. I also wish that her daughter Samaira is able to lead a very comfortable life," he says.

Abhishek, who is riding high after the box office success of films like Bunty aur Babli, Sarkar and Dus, admits that his own marriage plans are on hold for the moment.

"I am not very keen to get tie the knot in near future. My mom and relatives keep asking me the same question. But I have been telling everyone that marriage is not on my list of priorities for another 3-4 years," he says.

With matrimony still some distance away, Abhishek wants people to stop speculating about his relationship with sundry women in the industry.

According to him: "My name keeps getting linked with some actress or the other. But I want to make it clear that I am not having an affair with anyone in the film industry. People even say I am seeing Esha (Deol). The truth is that she's a family friend and started her career with my mom. She's not my girlfriend; she's more like my sister. Believe me, I will let everyone know when I do have an affair with someone."

Today's most popular actress Preity Zinta is shocked to know that she has only a brief guest appearance in her next 'Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa'. When confronted with a question about her guest appearance in Salman Khan starrer, she quipped, "I don't know from where it (the news of guest appearance) started." She claimed that she has a full-fledged role in 'Dil Ne Jise Apna Kahaa'. She added that it is her third film with Salman Khan.

Karisma Kapoor has been hearing a lot of scripts and will soon finalise a couple of projects for herself. Though based in Delhi now, she visited Mumbai recently in this connection though she shot for "Mere Jeevan Saathi" there. In this movie, she is teamed with Akshay Kumar and Amisha Patel. She will look ravishing, and will appear with a tagline of ''a newly-networked nationless state'. Kareena and Salman's first

The Kareena - Salman pair will soon appear on the silver screen in Priyadarshan's forthcoming movie. This will be the first time when both them will be seen together.
