For the hardware enthusiasts and geeks who might remember the tingles down your respective spines when Seagate first introduced their 750GB barracuda 7200.10 hard disk drives, Hitachi has certainly managed to top the pack when it comes to capacity where their latest Desktar 7K1000 hard disk drive which features a staggering one TERABYTE capacity (that's 1000 Gigabytes for those of you who don't understand geek speak).

While those with a keen eye on the technology and computer hardware industry might have already heard about Hitachi's 1TB wonder way back during this year's CES exhibition held in Las Vegas in January, the chaps at The Inquirer have noted that the drives have already begun shipping in the good old US of A. As it is, the specifications read pretty nice too: Serial ATA 3.0Gbps, 32MB data buffer (and you thought 16MB was plenty, shame on you!), 8.5ms seek time and 4.17ms average latency.
