MARRIAGE IS EXCITING FARDEEN, NATASHA
Actor Fardeen Khan is very excited these days and rightly so. After all, he is going to marry with her fiance Natasha, granddaughter of former star Mumtaz, on December 19th. Another reason for his excitement has been the fulfillment of her mother Sundari Khan's cherished dream of opening a boutique shop. Fardeen visited New Delhi to open this boutique in a posh South Delhi colony.
Her mother Sundari and sister Laila Khan accompanied him. During the chat, Fardeen said that he would first go to Switzerland after the marriage, presumably for their honeymoon. Natasha is looking excited too, nursing high hopes from her would-be life partner. When asked about his 'No Entry', Fardeen said, " This isn't a comedy but it is certainly full of fun." His 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' is a different kind of film. His third movie is 'Shaadi Number One.' Sundari Khan says that her boutique has high fashion choicest suits and sarees ranging above Rs 10,000 and Rs 25,000 each, respectively. Fardeen says that his marriage with Natasha will further strengthen their existing relationship between the two old friendly families.

I like to 揵e positive: Fardeen Khan
How抯 your life and career looking to you?
I抦 very excited. I憊e three releases this year. All seem very different from one another. No Entry and Shaadi No 1 are both hysterically funny but different from one another. Ek Khiladi Ek Hasina attempts something never done in our cinema. At the end of the year I get married. It抯 an eventful year.
Congrats, I believe you抣l have the most gorgeous mother-in-law in the world.
(laughs) Thanks you. I抣l pass that on to the lady. I抦 sure she抣l be delighted to hear it
Your sudden engagement to Mumtaz抯 daughter surprised many?
I don抰 see why. We抳e known each other for many years. Our families have known each other forever. Her mom and my dad did a lot of films together including his first home production Apradh.
Is it an arranged love match?
No at at all. It抯 absolutely a matter between two consenting adults, nothing arranged about it. We抮e getting married in December. Then of course she moves to Mumbai to be with me.
And then your life will finally have some stability?
My life was never unstable. But yeah, marriage is a responsibility. It抯 happening when it was bound to happen. It抯 a new chapter in my life |

Urmila can give no dates
Urmila Matondkar is reported to be giving no dates. This is despite the fact that she doesn't have many movie offers with her. In fact, she is busier these days in frequenting her boyfriend-cum- rich jeweler Anmol Mehta. She is serious about her relations with Mehta, and is keen on marrying him. However, as in the reel world her parents are opposed to this love marriage. Under these circumstances, Urmila has no dates left with her for giving for shooting.

Arjun Rampal's no to smoking scene
Arjun Rampal has categorically said no to a director for enacting a smoking scene in his film. The director's all pleas failed to persuade Arjun to agree to do a smoking scene. Even the director pleaded with him that Akshay Kumar is a brand ambassador of a cigarette company. This argument didn't impress him. Arjun maintains that a smoking scene in a movie would give a wrong message to the audience. We salute Arjun for his firm and positive approach in films.

Love is sacred for Kareena
Karena Kapoor is in love with her boyfriend Shahid Kapoor is quite well known. However, she says that sex is a sort of a sacred thing for her. According to her, sex makes a man responsible to his partner. She is not bothered about different perceptions about it. Every one has his or her own perception in this matter, she adds.

Aamir, Kareena in Maqbool director's next
It's the love story of two people who aren't married to each other," says music composer-turned director Vishal Bharadwaj about his new and by far most ambitious film, Mr Mehta & Mrs Singh.
While Aamir Khan was finalised as Mr Mehta a few months ago, the casting of Mrs Singh comes as a surprise.
"Kareena Kapoor is an actress I've been watching since Refugee. Her performance in Mani Ratnam's Yuva finally convinced me of her extraordinary talent," says Vishal. "After working with Shabana Azmi in Makdee and Tabu in Maqbool, I'm spoilt. I only want to work with the best actresses in the country. And you have to agree, Kareena is among our best today."
Vishal admits he approached Rani Mukerji and Preity Zinta to play the female lead. "But their dates were not matching Aamir's dates. So I had to look elsewhere. But I'm glad Kareena is in the project. Aamir has worked with Rani and Preity before but not with Kareena. This is a completely untried pairing. That adds a special edge to the on-screen romance."
Written by Vishal, Robin Bhatt and Abhishek Choubey, Mr Mehta and Mrs Singh starts shooting in June 2006. It will be produced by UTV.
Vishal seems unfazed by the drop in Aamir's equity after Mangal Pandey. "I don't think Mangal Pandey has affected Aamir's market in any way. It did stupendous business the world over. I wanted to work with Aamir for a long time. In fact, I believe some of our stars are immensely talented. Why should we hold their stardom against them?" asks Vishal.
Meanwhile, the director is getting ready for the release of The Blue Umbrella, which releases in December.
Mr Mehta & Mrs Singh will be Aamir's third release next year after Rakesh Mehra's Rang De Basanti and Kunal Kohli's film with Kajol.

Kareena bags Mr. Mehta and Mrs. Singh, opposite Aamir Khan
Things are looking up for Kareena. The actress has been roped in by Vishal Bharadwaj to play the character of Mrs. Singh in Mr. Mehta and Mrs. Singh.
Earlier the makers were considering the likes of Preity Zinta, Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan for the role. While Rani and Preity had date problems, the makers were not too sure about Vidya suiting the character. The film will be directed by Vishal Bharadwaj who is also producing the film along with UTV.
It is based on the relationship a married couple shares over 25 years. There are plans to get the international stylist who designed Russell Crowe抯 look in A Beautiful Mind, to design the look of the actors in the film.
Both Aamir and Kareena will be shown aging in the film. Shooting for the film will commence in July 2006 in Pondicherry. The duo of Aamir and Kareena are coming together on screen for the first time. This promises to be a treat for the audience.
For Aamir who had been reclusive for four longs years until Mangal Pandey, his fans just have a reason to rejoice with this being the third film in his kitty after Rang De Basanti (releasing in December 2005) and Fanaah (commencing in October 2005).

SRK FOR IMMUNIZATION NOW
Following the successful polio eradication drive endorsed by Amitabh Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai, health analysts have realized that the road to 'good health' of the public health systems, is to get a movie star or a cricketer to promote them. So every public interest campaign (be it anti-smoking, heart care or eye and organ donation) has a famous face backing a 'favorite' cause. The latest in this regard is super star Shah Rukh Khan. The actor is now endorsing a campaign for immunization of children. Apparently very similar to the pulse polio vaccine, this is a four-time immunity vaccine, which SRK will promote. A spokesperson for the producer said, "We had a very good experience with Amitabh Bachchan endorsing the polio immunization campaign and this time too we wanted to reach out to the widest possible audience. Since this is a routine immunization program, which is given to children below one year, we have to reach out to the remotest of areas. And we are confident that Shah Rukh is the ideal actor for this. It is not just one short film but a series of films that we are looking at."
Moreover, Khan's production company has also volunteered to produce the ad film. SRK has clarified, "Ours is not a pulse polio program, though it looks very similar. I did a polio campaign a long time ago, with a little baby. I think polio has, more or less, been eradicated. The health guys told me that the last time they met me that there were only around ten polio cases today in India - which I think, are quite an achievement. What I'm doing is a one-year, four-time immunization cause. What the health planners are trying now is immunization against a lot of other less-treated, minor diseases, which exist only in India. So I decided to do it for them. Also, we have produced the film. Initially, I was only supposed to act in it, but then I realized the budget constraints of the planners and we thought it would be a good deed from our company, to make the film. My Dreamz team has been telling me for a long time to do a good deed. I'm trying."

Girlie? Not for Shah Rukh
Shah Rukh Khan has no qualms about his Lux ad, which has raised many an eyebrow.
"Some people think it's a girlie ad and that it questions my sexuality. But I love the idea of getting into a tub, just as I had seen all my lovely leading ladies do," says the King Khan, about his latest endorsement: Lux.
"I can't help it," he says. "I just do my job. In fact, I've just done a Santro ad with Preity Zinta in Spain. That's why I couldn't be there for Karan Johar's mahurat in Mumbai. Besides, Preity needed to get to New York to shoot for Sajid Nadiadwala's Jaaneman. So I had to re-shuffle my dates and miss Karan's big day. A pity. But I visited his set at Film City (in Mumbai) earlier this week. Being on Karan's set seems like being at home."
SRK will be starring in Karan's Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, along with a host of stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Preity Zinta and Abhishek Bachchan.
Shah Rukh has made headlines for his Lux ad -- a first for a male celebrity. "Not true," SRK corrects. "Before me, Paul Newman had done the Lux ad. I wanted to get into the tub and not just stand outside watching a lady getting in. I guess that would've been a more predictable male perception of how the ad should have been done. But I wanted to do it the proper way. I don't know why it should be such a big deal."
The ad shows the actor in a bathtub.
After a pause, he says, "Actually, all my favourite heroines have done the ad. Lux has traditionally been considered a woman's soap. But I can't remember a time when it hasn't been a part of Indian households, for a male or female. I grew up watching those lovely ladies modelling for the soap. Now, I'm a part of it. Lux is now 75 years old, so there is a need to do something different with the product."
In a week's time, Shah Rukh will leave for New York for the shooting of Kabhi Alvidaa Na Kehna. "I have enjoyed this break from work, reading and playing with my children, being a house-bound dad for a change. Now, it's back to work."
And what happens to Farah Khan's Happy New Year? "I really don't where that fits in. After Karan's film, I go to Farhan Akhtar's Don in February 2006.

SHAH RUKH SURE BOLLYWOOD WILL GO GLOBAL
Bollywood will take another five to ten years to make a dent in the world cinema. This was stated by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan in London recently. "We are still in a fledgling stage. It will take another five to ten years before we make a dent in world cinema," he told a crowded media. Shah Rukh, along with actors Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Rampal, Preity Zinta, Priyanka Chopra and Rani Mukherji answered a volley of questions on Bollywood.
They also told the press how they saw themselves as role models. These Bollywood stars are in London to participate in star-shows to be held at Birmingham and Wembley Arena in the next three days. Saif Ali Khan said the stars do have certain amount of social and moral responsibility, though they acted differently according to the demands of the script.
Asked when SRK planned to act in 'Spiderman', the actor said, "as soon as I start climbing." Farhath Hussain, organizer of the event, was very happy that shows had been fully sold out. Bollywood's popularity is growing bigger by the day in Britain and this has to be the most anticipated concert ever held so far.

Rani missing in posters?
Has Preity Zinta overshadowed Bengali beauty Rani Mukherjee? This is the talk of the tinsel town though. This is because Yash Chopra is keeping himself tight-lipped about his directorial comeback. The title of the movie would be 'Veer Dara', starring Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji. However, it is being said that the promotional posters of the movie on the walls of the town are strangely those of Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta. No body knows why Rani's posters are missing.

Katrina out of Salman movie
Katrina Kaif, the girlfriend of Salman Khan, has been ousted from 'Barsaat' starring Salman Khan. The producer of the movie, Sunil Darshan, has revealed this. The producer says he has been compelled to do it because Katrina has failed to learn Hindi despite several requests to her. Katrina had got this offer of a Hindi movie after she remained without a movie for a long time since her last 'Boom'. She had faced a lot of difficulty in delivering Hindi dialogues in 'Boom' even. 'Barsaat' was significant for Katrina as Salman is acting in this movie.

Gracy Singh signs 'Dhool'
The 'Gadar' girl Amisha Patel is busy acting with the 'Lagaan' star Aamir Khan in 'The Rising' while the 'Lagaan' actress Gracy Singh has been signed opposite the 'Gadar' star Sunny Deol for 'Dhool'. Gracy will play the village belle in it, and the Sunny Deol movie will be directed by the Deol favorite Guddu Dhanoa. Gracy's graceful act of the village girl in 'Lagaan' has perhaps helped her bag this role. The film is a remake of AM.Ratnam's Tamil film of the same title starring Vikram, Jyothika and Reema Sen and directed by Dharani. This is to recall that the story is of a villager who fights with a minister to stop contamination of their village river.
