Kemungkinan ke plane di panah petir..?
What happens when lightning strikes an airplane?
Edward J. Rupke, senior engineer at Lightning Technologies, Inc., (LTI) in Pittsfield, Mass., provides the following explanation:
It is estimated that on average, each airplane in the U.S. commercial fleet is struck lightly by lightning more than once each year. In fact, aircraft often trigger lightning when flying through a heavily charged region of a cloud. In these instances, the lightning flash originates at the airplane and extends away in opposite directions. Although record keeping is poor, smaller business and private airplanes are thought to be struck less frequently because of their small size and because they often can avoid weather that is conducive to lightning strikes.
Copy the Code
Although passengers and crew may see a flash and hear a loud noise if lightning strikes their plane, nothing serious should happen because of the careful lightning protection engineered into the aircraft and its sensitive components. Initially, the lightning will attach to an extremity such as the nose or wing tip. The airplane then flies through the lightning flash, which reattaches itself to the fuselage at other locations while the airplane is in the electric "circuit" between the cloud regions of opposite polarity. The current will travel through the conductive exterior skin and structures of the aircraft and exit off some other extremity, such as the tail. Pilots occasionally report temporary flickering of lights or short-lived interference with instruments.
Copy the Code
to safeguarding the aircraft's exterior, the lightning protection engineer must make sure that no damaging surges or transients can reach the sensitive equipment inside the aircraft. Lightning traveling on the exterior skin of an aircraft has the potential to induce transients into wires or equipment beneath the skin. These transients are called lightning indirect effects. Careful shielding, grounding and the application of surge suppression devices avert problems caused by indirect effects in cables and equipment when necessary. Every circuit and piece of equipment that is critical or essential to the safe flight and landing of an aircraft must be verified by the manufacturers to be protected against lightning in accordance with regulations set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) or a similar authority in the country of the aircraft's origin.

Not enough equipment & resources for Vietnam to conduct "sophisticated" search for #MH370, says @n ...
Kalau dah tahu equipment tak cukup bagi la permisssion bila malaysia mintak nk masuk perairan dorang nak buat SAR...
tah hape la vietnam ni....
dah la suka release to media benda tak confirm...
Our thoughts and sympathies are with the relatives of the passengers and crew of MH370. But until today, we have not received straight answers from Malaysian authorities. The social network has been inundated with wishes of condolences and prayers. The anguish is insurmountable made worse by evasive answers from Malaysian authorities. This is a collective grief shared by all.
The whole country is enraged. We know that MAS is doing everything possible to console families of the missing persons. It will expend every possible resource. While we agonize, the MAS people are manning the crisis centre every minute.
No, we are not playing the blame game but a lot of questions need answering. Its not the time to sweep things under the carpet either. Our Crisis management for example. The resources at our disposal.
Our crisis management is in tatters. We don’t have a Ghazali Shafie who handled the hijacking from the Japanese Red Army. Hishamudin as usual speaks like the stupid jock that he is. Just now I heard that he is stating that the Chinese authorities are satisfied with the work the Malaysian authorities are doing.
Hah? I was also reading as did others, a pro-Beijing newspaper lashing out at Malaysian authorities for their lackadaisical attitude in handling this matter. An UMNO supporter even uploaded an aerial photo showing many ships in Singapore harbour to show that Malaysia has mustered so many ‘assets’ to conduct its search and rescue. Malaysia must be desperate.
One feels that Malaysian authorities are more eager to manage its public relations persona than taking the bull by its horns. Answers are not forthcoming and the media statement given by Ahmad Jauhari Yahya is not explaining anything.
If news is not coming out fast and truthful enough, can the IGP stop people from scouring for news on the internet news portals? If they do are they committing a crime? If the government is incapable to give straight answers, we earn the right to look elsewhere.
I was listening over the radio while driving from Raub. Journalists were asking MAS top brass and the chief of Air force for details on the ill-fated flight. Until there is a closure and definitive answer, we are hoping for the best and preparing for the worse. Why can’t we get straight answers from MAS or the DCA or the Transport minister? Every twist suggested by spotted-face journalists was eaten up by the interviewer as an escape route enabling them to say, we don’t discount this and that.
The revelation that two passengers used stolen passports was eagerly taken up by authorities to entertain the idea of a possible terrorist act. This is no laughing matter.
Some vague readings on whatever, are taken up as possibilities that the aircraft made a turnaround. We spent more than RM100 million equipping DCA with the latest technical surveillance and tracking system, we can’t still point out where the plane was. We spent an equal amount of money for the immigration; our officers cannot differentiate an Asiatic face from a Caucasian’s. This is like not being able to differentiate spaghetti from kebab.
Our journalists not trained to be sharp did not take up on this issue. I heard a voice from a Caucasian asking the air force general did the statement that the plane made a turnaround supported by readings on the radar whereupon, the air force general went out in a circular manner without actually answering the question.
When asked about assets used to conduct search and rescue, the general and the MAS CEO can only aver that the number of assets was increased. Where are our RM9 billion patrol vessels? Where are our vessels built by Amin Shah later taken over by Boustead? Can’t we despatch our famed submarines?
But what exactly are the assets used on our Malaysian side? Search and rescue of this kind require sophisticated under water detection capabilities. Do we have these? Instead we seem to rely on Singapore assets and Australian assets. What about all those ships which we bought at humungous costs? Where are they?
So can the government please answer us straight- are our assets mission capable? How many did we employ?
While it’s commendable, it’s also laughable that now it’s emerging that the assets we are going to use are 1778 deep sea fishing boats owned by our fishermen.
Power to Awang the Fisherman. That was a title of a chapter in a book I read in standard one. Ah Chong the market gardener and Ramasamy the rubber tapper.

umpama je la... klau dah passport tu check ngan teliti... ofcoz urusan kat imigresen tak sesenang ...
tak perlu check teliti. Terus check dgn database interpol. 1~2 saat dah dapat. Apa kes 6 jam? Ini dah melencong jauh daripada komplen asal iaitu kenapa sistem imigresen tak check passport the interpol.
Kat tiket dah beli awal2 lagi. MAS boleh check. Imigresen boleh check. Dua2 pun tak check. Apa kes? Bukannya susah nak check. Kan maklumat passenger dlm komputer awal2 lagi?
