There is confusion over the distress signal detected by Egypt's military. There's confusion over wether signal #EgyptAir spoke of was distress signal BEFORE crash or automated signal AFTER
In a statement, EgyptAir said the signal was detected at 4:26am (local time).
That's almost two hours after the plane disappeared from the radar, at 2:30am, around 280 kilometres off Egypt's coast.
It had been due to land at 3.15am.
But other reports suggest the signal was sent 10 minutes before the plane disappeared from radar.
There's no indication yet of what the signal was. It could have been from an emergency locator transmitter or beacon.

Earlier reports that officials have now confirmed the plane "crashed" also appear shaky.
Officials fear it crashed into the sea, but at this stage that does not appear to have been physically confirmed. |

Jean-Paul Troadec, the former chief of France’s air accident investigation unit, the BEA, said the disappearance was “almost certainly” caused by “an attack”.
