KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30, 2015:
A cafe operator has come out to say it was ill-informed by a limousine service provider who failed to pick up its guests.
Among said guests were Malaysian celebrity Amber Chia who was left waiting at the airport when an action star from India was picked up from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in a white limousine adorned with Hello Kitty stickers.
A Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe spokesman said the cafe had contracted Extreme Limousines & Tours Sdn Bhd to pick up Amber Chia from the airport at 6pm and deliver her to the grand launch of the Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe at Sunway Pyramid.
“Amber was the guest of honour and was scheduled to conduct the ribbon cutting.
“Sanrio’s copyright and trademark protected stickers were placed on the limo and according to our sticker provider, this was completed by 3.40pm.
“The limo driver was in contact with our operations team as was the management of Extreme Limousines & Tours Sdn Bhd,” said the spokesman.
The spokesman also claimed to have been told that everything was on track and that the limousine would pick up Amber Chia on time.
“We were also informed via WhatsApp that once the sticker was on the limo, the limo would not go anywhere else except to pick up our guests.”
Quoting an email sent on Oct 25, the spokesman listed out the logistic details that were agreed upon, starting at 4pm.
At the agreed upon time, the limousine was allegedly expected to arrive at Hello Kitty Gourmet Cafe, picking up bloggers there before leaving at 4.30pm to Mid Valley to pick up more bloggers by 5pm.
At 5.15pm, the limousine was expected to leave for the gourmet cafe, arrive at 6pm and leave again to pick up Chia at KLIA and bring her back to the cafe at 7.45 for the grand launch, dropping off the guests back at Mid Valley at 10.15pm.
“We were shocked when the limo did not pick up any of our guests. We were informed that there was a traffic jam and that the limo was running late.
“This caused the grand opening to begin late. We were deeply disappointed with the service provided.
“We later learnt from media reports that the limo had been used to pick up an Indian movie star,” said the spokesman.
The spokesman also said they were shocked by media reports alleging that the limousine had been rented out to a middleman company for the whole day.
“This was in direct contradiction to our agreement with the limo provider.
“The limo company should have handled this better and kept us in the loop. If the limo company had been transparent from the start, we would have been able to organise alternative transportation for our guests promptly.
“By the time the limo company had offered alternative drivers, the grand launch was already mid-way through. Amber was very understanding and took a taxi in the end.”
The spokesman said they were now speaking to their lawyers to discuss their next step.
Meanwhile, the limousine company involved in the mix-up has come out to claim that the agent who booked a limousine for the actor was already informed that it was not available from 6pm onward on Oct 26.
A spokesman from the limousine company alleged that the representative who paid RM2,500 for the limousine had told them the booking was for either Oct 26 or 27 and they would reconfirm the timing for the pickup, but the timing was set between 4pm and 6pm at the very last minute.
“Our arrangement was only from KLIA to Shangri-La Kuala Lumpur. There was no mention of route change at all until we found out from the driver after they had arrived in Malacca.
“In our communication, we clearly stated the limo is not available from 6pm.
“Our representing agent had also told them about the Hello Kitty stickers beforehand,” said the spokesman.
On the other hand, Abdul Malik Dasthigeer, the managing director of Malik Stream Sdn Bhd, which functioned as one of the organisers for the Indian mega star’s visit, claimed the booking made with the limousine company did not state any particular timing.
Neither, he claimed, was he informed on the unavailability of the vehicle after 6pm.
He also alleged that the limousine company was not informed about the route change, from Shangri-La Hotel in Kuala Lumpur to Malacca, due to security reasons and denied claims of “hijacking” or “forcing” the limousine driver to take the actor and his team to Malacca.

pada analysis aku, silapnya pada local company yang menguruskan Rajnikanth masa dia di Malaysia & syarikat limo tue. Rajnikanth mmg tak tau apa2 and follow the flow jer.
Mungkin betul sbb driver phone kena rampas.
Haih..
